- Thread: Trouble for FSU
This is nothing guys, people are making too big a deal out of it. A couple guys quoted a few authors but forgot to hit the " button. Who among them was ever charged with a felony? They were young kids who made an honest mistake. And the coaches bear no responsibility for any of this and I'm also sure the players were disciplined appropriately in house. We shouldn't be so judgmental about these things. It's not like they were slacking on company time...
We are the boys from old Florida
Where you are OWNED and DESTROYED!!!
Where COMPLAINERS and HATORS are (insert sexual 'rape-y' term here) by the GATORS!!!
And BABIK is no longer EMPLOYED!!!
- Thread: Todd McShay on UF job....
SS, Fat Dooley, McShay are all full of it. I could be way off base, but this is what I think happened. UF planned to send out literally 2-3 dozen feelers. Who's interested and who's a flat no. Some were received unsolicited and the rest were solicited. I think Chip Kelly's agent contacted UF to see if UF had interest. When UF said yes, it was an opportunity to leverage against a job that Kelly actually wanted. I think Kelly played us, end of story. Scott Frost was then contacted, which means he had initially had interest in UF, but by the time UF put the press on it was too late, and perhaps Frost never wanted an SEC job. Mullen was third, and was probably the original #2 candidate before Kelly called. The rumors about Gundy were probably just his agent trying to get him a raise, which happened through the UT opening. We got our backup or at best 1b candidate. We also got the best coach who actually wanted to be here. In a weird way, I'm glad we got Mullen, because at least he wants to be here, and he's not a bad coach. We got our hopes up and that makes the hire worse than it is. He'll have an opportunity to be an elite coach at UF if he's capable. If not, we'll try again in a few years, but I think we'll make bowl games and probably never fall below 9 wins once he gets rolling with his recruits and his roster.
- Thread: Foley is a boss
AD's make mistakes and Foley has made more than his share. No one is infallible.
And has already been mentioned, McElwain isn't going to have to pony up a single cent of his own money.
And please, nobody "like" this post. There are certain posters that are embarrassing to agree with.
What bothers me the most is that the Butters staff (and himself) were given raises and contract extensions....when it was pretty well known that there were internal problems (this has been discussed and some beat writers have actually written about it). There's some big-time incompetence at the UAA. I don't know if it was totally on Foley, but many of those staffers have been around long enough that they've seen multiple coaching staffs (Spurrier, Zook, Meyer, Muschamp) come through that there should have been red-flags everywhere. It's absolutely shameful that they let this go on as long as they did.
I'm happy w/ what I've read so far. This new S&C coach is only 28 years old! And he's ready to bust some people's asses! And Mullen showed up and ran with the team? That's awesome and anyone that thinks otherwise is a full-fledged retard!
It is amazing, isn't it, that Dooley, Andreu, Bianchi, Buddy Martin etc etc, you know, the "adult media" are always out there saying fans are irrational and spoiled and stupid when a coach is on the hot seat, and when the seat inevitably bursts into flames and the move is made, then they spend the next 6 months lamenting the fact that the bum let things get run down to this level, as if this was some sort of stunning revelation to them. Where are these guys during these lost seasons, asking the tough and incisive questions? 2 months ago it was "Leave Mac alone! He's building a program here and won back to back SEC East "titles" what more do you want?" and now its "This bum was the worst coach in the last 40 years, maybe ever." These guys are either UAA lackeys who just regurgitate talking points or are totally incompetent, and I am really tired of these has-been windbags lecturing everyone else about what "real" and "serious" journalism is. /RANT
