In full disclosure, I have fallen for that a million times, but this is the first time I haven't (nor did I suspect, so I'm not claiming any brilliance here, brilliance is NOT my thing!).
Also in full disclosure, not gonna lie, I do in fact love that song... it's just too catchy and his voice is phenomenal.
In further full disclosure, Clocks by Coldplay is a great song, and if that's wrong, I don't wanna be right!
Anyway, well played, my faith in you is fully restored... I was honestly concerned!

Mannnnn do I miss him. In 1988-89, I spent a LOT of time riding around Germany in a Blackhawk. The pilot, who is still a very close friend of mine (and flies for Delta now) had a cassette of his stand up back then and we absolutely wore that cassette out listening to it over the intercom while flying around. RIP Sam.

Yeah, he got a bad rap for that catchy little ditty! Glad I was able to redeem myself! Figured most just browsed by it and figured I was a moron but for those that checked it out..what a blast from the past!

I had a MASSIVE thing for Terri Nunn... and they HATED Take My Breath Away, it was their only song they didn't write. She is probably my favorite voice of all time...

technically these guys got really going in '78/79, but for my money, there was no better "New Wave" 80's band than The Cars
Benjamin Orr's voice was phenomenal (RIP Mr. Orr) and Elliott Easton on the guitar was insanely underrated.

The Cars debut album (The Cars) has to be in the top 3 debut albums of all time, period. The entire "B side" is almost one continuous song if you listen, they actually run into each other... there is actually no break between Bye Bye Love, Moving in Stereo and All Mixed Up, it's continuous.
