@Ox. I love what Urban did here. I'd be a fool not to. He was intense, worked his ass off, kicked ass when it needed to be kicked, and cut a few ethical corners when they needed to be cut.

Urbs new mo at Jacksonville. Not intense...a lot of talk, his ass was still intact when he was done. No ass kicking. But he was cutting ethical corners on steroids. He got fat and he got lazy.

Not only that college football today is lot more like the NFL than you might think. And that means there's a problem. His name recognition would make a splash and he might get some players. But what he did in his last stint here will not work in today's college football world.

Is he able to adapt to the new college environment. He didn't adapt to squat at Jax. Same ol' **** only lazy.

@oxrageous - what was it that you said about Urban about a decade ago? That he was a shooting star… Extraordinarily bright and eventually burns out?

I think it was the best description of him ever. He’s not going to remain forever. But can we get him back here to right the ship and have him handpick his successors. And then maybe have him come in as AD.

The last one he picked didn't work out so well.

How did he leave us a broken program? Did he make Muschamp not hire OL for 4 years and not recruit any offensive skill positions?

Did he make McElwain fvk a shark? And then fake death threats?

Did he make Mullen stop wanting to coach and not want to recruit?

We would compete for the SEC next year.
Probably. But that’s doesn’t change the likelihood of my comment being true. I’m not sure selling our soul, again, is worth it.

A couple Natty’s do help though.

Reading comprehension is hard for you... re-read what I said. Do you honestly think that Swamp Kings is the real story......

No, it’s not hard for me. You said the admin doesn’t want the bad press Meyer did & would bring, then you said they didn’t want Swamp Kings and it’s watered down. So again, I ask what was bad about Swamp Kings? And if it’s not the real story, then maybe the real story (whatever story you’re alluding to) would be bad press, but what bad press came from what you allege is the fake story?

To your claim that the admin didn’t want it, I call BS. If they truly didn’t want it, then I believe they could have withheld all the behind the scenes footage on copyright & ownership grounds. They didn’t do that so they must not have had an issue with the documentary.

Urban Meyer would have us in the National Title conversation by year three, and we would be a 9 team win next year.
Don't believe UM is the man or coach he was 15 years ago. I doubt he would take the job, too much expectation and don't believe he would be truly interested. It would be a fun ride, with hope, at least.

Re capitalizing on the Tenn win: We looked great, but Napier couldn't keep the momentum. In my humble opinion, that performance was our players wanting it badly. Beyond that, it's looked like the team was dumbed down by a staff that didn't train them well and could not fully motivate them to play well, with precision and intensity. They play as if they practiced half speed and without clear direction(assignments). It's almost like they thought our staff is mickey mouse and they weren't buying in. But, whatever. It is what it is.

Meyer usually takes jobs where he knows he can succeed, if he took the job, he would know the foundation is in place. He isn't a ground up rebuild type of coach, especially at this time in his career.

If you think this administration is going to hire UM, they aren't. They do not know what bad press, they want safe. Napier was safe, he wasn't going to embarrass Stricklin during the hiring process and he is a bland, likable guy. They do not want the kind of press that Meyer would and did create. They didn't want Swamp Kings, there is a reason it was so watered down.

I could see him taking it knowing he's only going to be here three or four seasons. But as much as we believe he would rebuild and win, I don't believe it's definite. But maybe.

Utah, UF and tOSU were not rebuilds... they had talent just needed restructuring..

What I mean mostly is that Urban doesn't have the fire he once had. That said, if he hired a group of damn good recruiters, trainers, OC/DC, he could have it on auto pilot.

Urban the CEO is still a dangerous Urban... but the administration doesn't even want that one.

I wouldn't want urban with early 2000s fire. I'd want him with Ohio State level where he was more tempered and found some work life balance.

You are missing my point completely. Schools all bad mouth each other. It's Urbs not taking any responsibility for leaving us "in shambles" that I find ironic

I have no idea how seriously Diggs considered us as I do not know the man or the guys recruiting him, but he came to FNL - and put on an absolute show - and he took an OV to UF a couple of weeks before signing day. (His last OV was to tOSU the next week.)
Yeah, well no coach is gonna tell a recruit that on a recruiting visit. It's more likely that Musdump talked to him and wanted him to play corner.
