Hold on, I thought the very second a player took money to play a sport, said player was not considered an "amateur" any longer and therefore was disqualified from playing "amateur" or collegiate sports.
Said player is now a professional.

What happened to that one?

College football has adopted the Russian version of amateur athlete.

Ohio State Overview
• Cam is in his fourth year with the football program and has three seasons of eligibility
• He is a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and an Academic all-Big Ten Conference honoree who is majoring in psychology
He is a veteran of 25 games played with three starting assignments, including in 2022 vs. Toledo
• Enters 2023 campaign with 38 career tackles along with one interception and four pass break-ups
• Played in 11 games in 2022 and totalled 15 total tackles, including four vs. both Toledo and Wisconsin
• Earned the first of his two Varsity O letters in 2021 after playing in all 13 games
• Played significant amount of defensive snaps vs. Tulsa, Akron, Rutgers, Maryland and Michigan State
• Made his first two collegiate starts: vs. Akron and Rutgers
• Contributed 23 tackles on the season along with four pass break-ups and an interception
• His interception was a 61-yard “pick-6” vs. Tulsa
• Had a career-best seven tackles vs. Tulsa and had five in the Rose Bowl win vs. Utah
• Played in one game in 2020, vs. Indiana, and ultimately red-shirted the season as a true freshman

ETN is official. Wow. Couldn’t script a worse first 24 months. I don’t see any we he survives this and it’s completely self inflicted. Just a disaster.
