Actually that makes it far worse. You cant control a kid lying but you damn well should no about academic issues and recruit some others.
You'll have to forgive me. I was sitting on the crapper at a McDonald's and typing on my iPhone when I posted that reply. It's a pain in the azz to type on the iPhone so I couldn't post a more detailed note. Using the talk/type feature in a public restroom is just so uncouth. Now that I'm in my car I can elaborate more.
I don't know the situation with this kid's academics so I don't know if he lied to Mac, if he didn't do something he was supposed to do (like re-take the SAT/ACT), if UF admin nixed this kid at the last minute, etc. so I really can't judge where the blame lies for the academic issue coming up on signing day. While this kid May have been borderline academically, you don't want to necessarily tell him he's not welcome if there is still a chance that he could qualify before signing day.
Your criticism about recruiting only a few DTs and striking out is fair and the blame for that falls squarely on the shoulders of Mac and the staff.
