Let's be clear, the UF pick six was misread by WR vs single high safety and not on QB. Receiver should've stayed on the seam.

Mac said in his post game presser the he would have to talk to the kids, their parents, and their "handlers" before pulling their red shirts and playing them in the bowl. Why would college kids have handlers? When did parents start to have input about who played, or didn't play? Could you picture SOS saying that? Yeah, me neither.

Over the course of the season, Mac said several times he was considering playing the Freshmen QBs. If he thought he needed permission to play them why didn't he have this parental discussion before? Is it possible Mac doesn't always tell the truth? Say it ain't so!!

Unfortunately I think Mac & Nuss's offense requires knowledge and study by the players. The receivers are getting open.

I do not hear stories of players in the film room or self practice taking place.

Part II

Many good comments and observations thus far. Not much sunshine in a beat down reminiscent of Nebraska, though I'm not confident that we'll see a similar rebound the following year ;). Not much confidence either that Mac's going to change his two-year recruiting blueprint and land a haul of elite players. I mentioned last week and have read the same observation from others that Mac's personality is probably not conducive to attracting the serious elite players. I still haven't been able to get the presser to load and watch it, but have read where Durty reports that one of his responses was "We're just glad to be here" regarding thevSECCG and the outcome. If that's so, then the message I think many, including recruits, are hearing is that we're ok with being mediocre, winning more than we lose and being the best of the worst in our conference. Mac also seems to be saying I did the best I can with the players I inherited. He talks about getting better but the product on the field when we are tested, punched in the mouth, says otherwise. My confidence in his ability to get this thing turned anytime soon eroded some more last night.

Still haven't seen the complete stats, but while watching the SEC network, I did see where we rushed for 0 yards and gave up 250-ish. We had 3 turnovers to Bama's 0. We did win the time of possession, an important stat if you are keeping your opponent out of the end zone and creating turnovers, which we did neither. Already mentioned this but Spec Teams were awful, save the PAT block and score. One thing that really pissed me off was the botched fake punt. Poorly executed, but I can't believe we call a TO just prior. Think Saban and staff weren't pounding the "Silly Rabbit" call?

At this point, if you still have hope that Mac can get it turned, we'll have an idea with the bowl game. Sounds like we'll play either of two challenging teams. If we get the same sh!tty preparation and performance as last year, it will be confirmation of what many think and probably already know. Problem is we will have to endure another season with low expectations. I have to believe the AD is preparing for the next guy and I can only hope that when he pulls the trigger, he has a good one, veteran or up and coming, on the hook and in time to pull a good class. Can you tell I've had enough of Buffalo Bob and Howdy Doody?

Mac inherited a program that was on a downward trajectory. And under him (the East notwithstanding), things have gotten worse. And based on the state of our recruiting, it looks like it's about to crash. The AD needs to act now. If he waits till next year, the job req may well include, "Applicants with the demonstrated ability to operate a broom and dustpan preferred. "

He was just trying to be nice.

@Bradwentworth0 Stay on seam vs single high or seam post vs two high. WR had inside leverage on defender covering him with safety in middle.
@Bradwentworth0 WR and QB have to see and read the same thing. It's actually fairly easy and clear cut.

I agree with you but this is never going to happen.

If we get Looeyville it will be yet another historic beatdown to finish Mac and his Shytshow off more quickly. Petrino wont hesitate to score 60-80 on us.

I expect the East to be stronger next year (admittedly, that's not saying much). If we play next year like we've played the last two, we won't even sniff a lowly East title. We could be looking at losses to UK and Vandy.

Translation? Barring a miracle, next year is already a lost season with a dead-man-walking coach. He's being given another year because the AD almost certainly feels he has to give a coach at least 3 years. You think recruits don't see what's happening? This class is destined to be a disaster because they know Mac is going to be fired.

On paper if that Georgia QB improves from his freshman year some they have some big time talent on paper at least. We better hope Smart doesn't know how to develop it and keeps making stupid in game decisions or they will be a force soon. Talk about a nightmare scenario as he can recruit real good unlike Mac.

The only guy I think might be available after next season that could turn this around is Chip Kelly. And I'm not even sold that he is better than butters with x's and o's, but I know one damned thing: he would bring more 5 star recruits than we've ever had here. Thats where it all starts. Its really not the x's and o's, its the Jimmy's and the Joe's. We saw that last night for sure. Bama wasn't doing anything scheme or playcalling wise better than us, they just had far superior talent. I'm afraid we will remain 3 star U otherwise.

Kelly was never a top tier recruiting.

To say he'd bring more bluechippers than CUM is silly. CUM's 05 class was legendary, arguably GOAT. Hell his 2010 class (at least on defense) was pretty close.

You're right.....I guess years of subpar recruiting have fried my brain.

I still would take Kelly in a heartbeat.

I'm sure most would. Hell I probably would get on board, though I don't like sideways offenses.

He is obviously far, far better than what we have. So far better that it's an insult to mention Butters in the same breath as Kelly. Nevertheless, Kelly was a more with less guy not a great recruiter, odd given that Oregon has probably the second best facilities in the country.

Regarding Cover's 2nd bullet, number 3. One difference between OL when we played LSU and Bama was that Martez Ivy wasn't injured when UF played LSU, and though he played yesterday, his ankle was not really 100%, and then it got reinjured and taped again. It seems like njuries almost have to affect the amount of push possible from and through the athlete's body on OL. Don't know how much of a factor that was for overall line performance..

I think recruiting is the key, and Mac is not recruiting well. Even when you have injuries, good recruiting helps. When an all American gets hurt on Bama's team, they just put in another 5 star player.

The Gators will not be back until recruiting improves a lot, and I don't see Mac getting it done. The Gators need a lot more than a quarterback.

Florida actually did some things well at times, and they might win a bowl game. Assuming the players are not demoralized and Mac plays to win (not guaranteed).

We will see how it pans out, but I don't see anyone beating Bama this year. I hope they get to play Ohio State, but I don't think Ohio State deserves to be in the playoff.

Honestly, a good passing team could and should have won that game.

It would have helped a lot, but I don't think that would be enough. You need to be able run it and also play defense and special teams. Bama is a complete team. Not perfect, but they can win in many ways.

Many teams are rebuilding lately. That's a cyclical occurrence. We are not rebuilding - McnCrew has us
self-destructing. Our "coaching system" has us wasting good athletes in fully shameful ways. Heck, this
coaching consortium has spread to shamefully wasting Gator fans. Who among us isn't stymied ?

Just maybe basketball can be a distraction? We need something; in football, we are getting zero.
Group hug, gang, so sorry.
