Cincy makes sense because they won't need a 3rd QB, more sense than SF anyway.

edit: Holey, moley. He is on the practice squad, but they have to put him on their 53 man roster. Maybe they want a wildcat for 3rd and short? http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/sports/bengals-claim-qb-announce-nine-practice-squad-addi/nsRX5/

Yep Driskel won a mini lottery there because if you are on the roster active on opening day you get the whole 400k or whatever it is now even if you get cut later in the season.

Surprised he is on an active roster, expected him on a practice squad after Thursday night. He has athletic skill, which will make coaches take chances on him.

Would you? If you job depended on it? There is a quie realistic chance they will need a 3rd QB THIS year (and every year really bc of all the qb running). Even if you belief JD has the ablity to play in he leauge, I suspect everyone will admit he won't be ready in a few weeks.

Even on the practice squad doesn't mean if they need a quarterback they will go to him. Look at the cowboys last year, went through 4 backup quartebacks Showers stayed on the practice squad.

Yeah,no doubt, but it means they will likely keep him for the year. That surprises me a little, especially given how he played in the preseason games, but it means a lot more money.

He is on he practice squad. Seems weird but the link above explains it. I assume that is right. Don't care enough about the NFL to know the nuances.

You can't take away long runs and then readjust his stats. Hell, let's do the same for all RBs and you'd see very similar results. That said, he's done a solid job this year, but he's not an elite RB by any stretch of the imagination. We've had better and we've had worse. Still holding out hope that he's a late bloomer like his dad. Fred really didn't blow anyone away until his senior year and ended up being a much better pro player than he was in college.
I still remember how we got Taylor and Bama got Henry. One was way overrated. I think his old man developed late because he was in SOS's dog house a lot because his tendency to fumble. Much greater talent than the son.

I think the rule is if you are active on the roster opening day you are guaranteed your entire pay for that season. They did that to cut down on teams flipping players back and forth so they only owed them for the weeks active so now just practice squad call ups and free agents not on the opening day roster are only due the full pay for the weeks they are active.

And tendency to do boneheaded things off the field.

The rule is if you are on the active roster for game 1 your salary is on the cap (unless suspension happens mid season or injury settlement).

That article says pretty clearly that he is on the 53 man roster.

Kelvin signed to Seahawks active roster.

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/fl...-florida-running-back-signs-seattle-seahawks/

ormer Florida RB Kelvin Taylor didn’t make the 53-man roster after he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

However, he found a new NFL home on Tuesday, as the Seattle Seahawks signed him to their active roster, according to Pro Football Talk.

The Seahawks play the 49ers in three weeks for their regular-season finale, so signing Taylor may be a strategic move to gain information on San Francisco coach Chip Kelly’s offense.

Taylor will be extra-motivated to get himself ready for the game against the squad that didn’t think he was good enough this summer.

KT was a good Gator. He never complained and hardly ever fumbled. I hope he wins a permanent spot on the Seahawks, but I think he lacks the speed of an NFL back.

The Hawks are going through RBs this year like Swamp Donkey dishing out 'dislikes'.
I really hope he finds a home here, as the only Gator currently on the Hawks is the mascot, Blitz. Maybe he will be one of those diamond in the rough type players that Carroll seems to get lucky with.

So he will get another 80k for knowing SFs playbook. He could make out nice if they keep him through a couple of playoff games.

He could have a solid NFL career. Speed is overrated as a RB IMO. His vision and shiftiness are what makes him a good back.

Good luck, Kelvin!

So the author really thinks the Seahawks signed a player to try and figure out how to beat the 1-12 niners?
