From my perspective, this issue is that Mac is way behind in checking all options. He should have been in front for these guys...now we are trying to flip kids and this staff is not a staff that can flip.

No argument there, but Mac had THREE DT verbals who bolted. Decommits aren't uncommon, but when's the last time you saw 3 for 1 position? And he's been working Truesdell (sp?) for a while. Mac may have other recruiting issues, but this one isn't because he woke a month before NSD a decided to call some DTs.

Only one of those 3 DT's was a kid that should be recruited to UF. The one who dumped us and committed to Penn State. Those other two are like the majority of our current OL - they should be playing at MAC schools, not UF.

No way he's the 1st taken at Wr. I don't even think he's worthy of being taken before rd 4. One of the most overrated players I've seen because of the hype people give him on this board.
Kev - we've been through this. You almost got banned from this board as a troll on this very same subject. What's wrong with you?

What's wrong with someone giving an honest opinion. I think he's a good player I've admitted that but I don't think he goes in the top 3 rounds. I think there is 15 other Wr's that will be taken before him. It's funny people can say LDR sucks or is not good but if I question how good of a player Callaway is then I'm a troll it's ludicrous

There are 189 Wr's with more tds this season than Callaway. 115 Wr's with more yards. Get off the mans unit he's good but he's not close to elite. I'd bet scouts would rate Cleveland as a higher draft pick than Callaway. What is he 5'11 a buck 90. Cleveland is bigger stronger and will go up and get the ball.

What? I've seen several new names pop up recently, including some renewed interest by Solomon. Not saying we land them all, but Mac seems to be checking all options.

No, other than Campbell these names are on a lot of our rivals radar and we're coming in last minute making offers. A Plan B is a kid like Kane Taylor who they've been recruiting for quite a while, and they've been holding off hopingto get a bigger fish. These "new" names are kids they're hoping to get. A Plan B is generally an under the radar kid, essentially a "reach".

Kev acts like a high school...or college kid at best. I'm becoming more convinced that he is..... and Callaway banged his girlfriend...

WR Jordon Pouncey (a cousin of the twins) who is committed to Notre Dame is reconsidering UF. He's a 3-star, but UF wants him at DB. I say let him play WR and if he can't cut it there move him over (Law's plan for recruiting DB's):

http://gatorbytes.blog.palmbeachpos...-to-gators-but-his-offer-differs-from-others/

TAMPA — For Jordan Pouncey, an offer from Florida always felt like it was meant to be.

It finally happened for him after his workout at the Florida satellite camp last week.

His older cousins are the Pouncey twins, Maurkice and Mike, who were on the Gators’ 2008 national championship team before becoming first-round picks in the NFL draft.

He also has cousins currently attending UF, and his 7-on-7 coach and personal trainer is former Florida cornerback Keiwan Ratliff.

“There seems to be Gators all around me,” Pouncey said. “My cousins, of course. Coach Ratliff. Some of my family members that aren’t football players go there now. So it’s really nice to have that offer. It’s been a long time coming.

“I’ve been in contact with the defensive coordinator, Geoff Collins. It’s been a process, but I’m glad I have the offer now and can start considering them.”

It’s not given, however, that the Gators will land Pouncey, a 3-star athlete from Winter Park, Fla. He holds offers from 46 other schools, and his family connection to Florida doesn’t heavily influence him.

“I’m not that close with Mike and Maurkice,” Pouncey said. “I’ve never met them before, but we have a relationship and communicate by phone. Recently, they’ve played a big part in my recruitment.

“When I let them know I got offered by Florida, they told me not to go there just because they went there. They said go to the school that’s a good fit for me.”

Finding that fit just became complicated for Pouncey. More than 40 schools are recruiting him at wide receiver, the position he prefers.

But Alabama and Florida, his latest offers, both want him as a cornerback. Ratliff has been encouraging Pouncey to play in the secondary since he started working with him in 2015.

“It’s a blessing that I can do both sides of the ball,” Pouncey said. “I’m just going to play with the chips I’m dealt. If I play corner, so be it. If I play receiver, so be it. I do enjoy cornerback quite a bit, I just don’t enjoy it as much as receiver.”

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect plans to visit several schools this summer and has no timetable for his decision. He added that the Gators’ offer for cornerback won’t hurt their chances.

“It’s not a disadvantage,” Pouncey said. “I like Florida, so I’d be willing to play any position there.”

Pouncey in name only it sounds like.

Read much?........................'WR Jordon Pouncey (a cousin of the twins)'

I read the whole thing. Obviously, you can't read. He may be a "cousin" but he flat out said he's never met them. Normally, one would assume that any Pouncey family member would be all Gator. My point was his name might as well be Smith. They aren't close so being a Pouncey does not factor much at all. Hope that helps. Nice try.

"...but we have a relationship and communicate by phone. Recently, they’ve played a big part in my recruitment." Sounds like a factor to me (for better or worse depending upon what they're telling him).

I totally get what you are saying but it's very late in the game to me. All good in da hood.

That phrase could be applied to our recruiting in general ("very late", not "all good in da hood"), at least based upon what is being reported (though I don't think we're getting a complete picture - see Kyree Campbell).

I can read and take things literally. Here's your statement: Pouncey in name only it sounds like.
He's their cousin (which you admit), so it's not 'name only'. Thus your statement is incorrect.

Also, he hadn't even gotten an offer from us until last week, which is probably why he wasn't/isn't 'all gator'.
And his cousins have talked to him and were giving him good advice, IMO, so I think their being related does factor in.
