Oregon: Defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt will make $1.15 million per year in a four year contract reports Andrew Greif of the Oregonian. No current Pac-12 assistants make over $1 million per year. Leavitt would owe Oregon a small buyout should he leave to accept any position other than as head coach at Kansas State which he could freely leave for.

Charlie Strong taking a page out of Mac's book:

South Florida: Former FAU cornerbacks coach Corey Bell will join the USF staff as cornerbacks coach, according to 247Sports. Bell spent three years at FAU and has previously served as a high school coach in Miami.

Urban Meyer is cut-throat: cans his OC after the playoff game for a sh*tty performance (maybe another coach should take notice):

Ohio State: Former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson is expected to join the Ohio State staff as offensive coordinator, according to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, who says the side are meeting today. Someone else would have to leave the full-time staff to open up a spot for Wilson.

Ohio State: Former 49ers quarterbacks coach Ryan Day has joined the Ohio State staff as quarterbacks coach. Day spent one year with the 49ers and the previous year with the Eagles. He was a Florida graduate assistant under Urban Meyer in 2005. He was Boston College offensive coordinator from 2013-14 and Temple offensive coordinator in 2012, working with former Florida assistant Steve Addazio.

Cincinnati: Ohio State quality control assistant Joker Phillips will follow Luke Fickell to Cincinnati, according to ABC6 in Columbus and multiple reports. Phillips spent one year at Ohio State after one year with the Cleveland Browns. He was at Kentucky from 2003-12, spending the final three years as head coach.

----

Interesting move by Herman (picks up Beck after Meyer fired him):

Texas: Scout.com’s Chip Brown reports Tom Herman will hire Ohio State co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Tim Beck as Texas offensive coordinator. Beck spent two years at Ohio State as Herman’s successor. He was Nebraska’s offensive coordinator under Bo Pelini from 2011-14 and has also coached at Kansas. Brown adds that Beck will call the offense at Texas.

South Carolina: For the open offensive line job, Will Muschamp has interviewed 49ers assistant OL coach Eric Wolford, Florida OL coach Mike Summers and Tennessee quality control assistant Walt Wells, according to SB Nation.

----

Jedd Fisch is a great story. He is a UF grad, but never played football. Sorta did what Charlie Weiss's son is trying to do. He was a student assistant at UF under Spurrier, became a HS coach...moved back into a support role in CFB...then got an assistant job in CFB and is now a high paid assistant that has had several jobs at bigger schools:

UCLA: Michigan quarterbacks / wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch will be the new offensive coordinator at UCLA, according to Fox Sports. Fisch spent two years at Michigan and was previously the Jaguars offensive coordinator.

Minnesota has met with PJ Fleck and Navy's coach. Would be surprised is Fleck ended up there when he could have got a much bigger job.

Agree. Fleck should hold out one more year. He'll be the most sought after non-Power 5 coach next season, especially if he wins 9-10+ games again.

The Navy coach would be nuts to leave there for that job. He'd make a little more money, but not much and would struggle vs. the power teams in that conference. He has it made where he is.

I would be shocked if Niumatalolo went to Minnesota. He turned down BYU last year. They should look at Lucky Les or Chris Klieman from ND State.

Instant upgrade. Meyer doesn't mess around.

This is pretty amazing:

Northwestern: Pat Fitzgerald tells the Chicago Tribune he plans for the entire staff to return. Fitzgerald has had the same nine assistants for six straight years.

I'm really surprised no one has picked up Fitzgerald. He has to have one of the toughest academic standards and has been bowl eligible 7 of his 11 years there.

I thought he would wait for a bigger coaching gig. It's a great hire, IMO.
