Why do you have a freshman QB if you are pulling a top class every year? It seems recruiting QBs is his biggest challenge.

He beat out the veterans. Saban has no problem playing the best players. They had a true freshman OL, and he beat out a lot of upperclassmen. Sure, ideally the true freshman QB would redshirt but Hurts was legit. I agree that Saban cut off his nose booting Kiffin the week before the game. The Bama offense was out of sorts....but they also looked lethargic vs. Washington. Those two defenses (Washington and Clemson) showed that Bama's offense can be shut down, if anything. Hurts brings a whole new dynamic to Bama's offense, w/ his running ability.

Yeah, but why doesn't he have upperclassman or a sophomore with more experience in the offense ready to go who can beat this kid out. His legs are valuable, but he did not look good throwing the ball.

Why is Nord still employed as of today?

Let's stop delaying the inevitable and start announcing the changes!

Well, he simply beat out those other QBs (that's by Bennett transferred out mid-season). If we have a kid come in w/ this class and beats out Clark or Bryan at DT would you be upset? It's simple, he was more talented. Tebow gave Leak a push for the starting job in 2006. It happens.

And Hurts looked really good passing the ball all year. He was SEC Offensive POY (not "Freshman of the Year", but PLAYER). He had two mediocre games against very good defenses. He looked great vs. our top 10 ranked defense - remember?

Sometimes a freshman is better than the heir apparent. Hurts is a great player. He'll only get better. He won't be 19 until August!

I can't disagree with anything else you said, but Hurts had little to do with the outcome of the Gator game (other than not throwing an INT, like Applebee's 3 picks). He was 11-20 for 138 yards, one TD, and a QB rating of 31.6. Not exactly 'looking great'. What did look great for them against us was their running game (Hurts did not hurt us running the ball either - 8 carries for 1 yard) and their defense. But the game was essentially over at half-time and Hurts didn't have to do much of anything in the second half, other than hand it off to the big RBs.

Looks like a typical day for McElwain's QBs! (add in a few picks, of course).

Also from same story, about S Devon Hunter:

The Gators have been targeting Hunter for the past year and he visited UF in the spring and summer. He communicates regularly with coach Jim McElwain and secondary coach Torrian Gray, his primary recruiter.

“Florida is DBU,” Gray said. “I got a great relationship with coach Gray and coach Mac. They text me all the time and speak highly of me. I can see myself there because they play a lot of young guys. I see Chauncey (Gardner) on the field making plays and doing his thing out there. They say it’s a great opportunity for me to come in there and start. That’s what I love about the school.”

Hunter is scheduled to visit Florida (Jan. 13), Auburn (Jan. 20) and Alabama (Jan. 27). He plans to reach a decision shortly before National Signing Day on Feb. 1.

We are in desperate need of an elite safety. He fits the mold.

I am going on record...right here, right now.

This is going to be the longest fcking offseason in the history of offseasons. I don't know if I can make it to September.

You can do it... as long as the basketball team is playing well... that will get you through April and to the Spring game which should spring board you through the summer!

I have faith in you!

Blake alderman said on the radio today that the Gaddy twins will flip to Florida if they're eligible. Would we still be able to land Slaton if we got the twins? Also Cam Spence is visiting this weekend, 3star ot Maryland commit.
