I can't disagree with anything else you said, but Hurts had little to do with the outcome of the Gator game (other than not throwing an INT, like Applebee's 3 picks). He was 11-20 for 138 yards, one TD, and a QB rating of 31.6. Not exactly 'looking great'. What did look great for them against us was their running game (Hurts did not hurt us running the ball either - 8 carries for 1 yard) and their defense. But the game was essentially over at half-time and Hurts didn't have to do much of anything in the second half, other than hand it off to the big RBs.
He's a freshman that didn't hurt his team either, unlike our 10th Year transfer
When a play isn't there he throws it away instead of forcing it is just one example, now Apple fritter wasn't solely responsible for the loss or even all the ints, but hurts(lol) showed way more poise under pressure than Appleseed, imo

It's not like I was sticking up for Applebee. Geesh.

I didn't mean to say u were, my comments were more of a comparison of composure, while hurts has the superior supporting cast, he is still a true freshman, while with our weaker supporting cast AA experience should have helped him,but really didn't exist, for the most part. Sorry if it sounded accusatory, not intended.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Defensive tackle is one of Florida’s biggest needs in the Class of 2017, and a new target has emerged for the Gators.

Slaton’s the 6-foot-5, 350-pound prospect met with Shannon last month during the contact period.

“He’s a good dude,” Slaton said of Shannon. “I had an in-home visit and we talked about a lot of academic stuff. He’s really big on the classroom, and so am I. My mom wants me to do all four years. So I’m comfortable with Florida.”

UF is scheduled to host Slaton on official visit Jan. 20. He’s also considering Baylor, Georgia, Kentucky and Ole Miss for potential visits this month.

Please, Please, we need us some Slaytonnage.

I don't think truesdale would sign if we had 4 other tackles already.

I am worried about that as well, but then again... he should be confident he can beat the other guys out and not afraid of competition.

Saw this on another board:

Clemson OT Jake Fruhmorgen may transfer to UF.

He was injured mid-season and missed the rest of the year (he was a starter). Kid is from Tampa and of course, we didn't get him.

There's apparently some smoke to this. He may be able to get a waiver to play immediately.

We still can't take grad transfers. I think we are fighting that fight behind closed doors though

I hope they're working the grad-transfer issue...but this kid is a sophomore and a straight transfer, that's why I mentioned the waiver (so he can play immediately vice having to sit out a year).

That would be great!

I don't understand how he'd get a waiver though? TJ McCoy transferred to us from NC State as a true freshman (Can't remember...but I think he was an early enrollee there and hadn't even begun his freshman season) and still had to sit out a year despite his transfer being due to his Dad's illness.

Under what premise would this guy get a waiver?

McCoy was a true freshman that received a waiver, but he was a true freshman so they redshirted him.

You can get a waiver for "family" issues (say your dad is sick and you want to get closer to home to visit him regularly).

Oooooh ok. Getting it mixed up. Heard about someone else and just assumed this was the same guy people were talking about. Would love to get him

Gottcha... I didn't think he got the waiver... But guess I didn't really follow him that closely since they went ahead and redshirted him and I wasn't expecting him to play last year anyway.

So... I'm guessing this guy is transferring because he lost his starting job after getting hurt... BUT may have something else going on with family or something that makes him think he'll qualify for a waiver.?.?.

I'm not sure....not even sure if the rumor is confirmed. I read he wasn't concerned if he lost the starting job, just wants to get closer to home (if this is even true).

This articles talks about family issues.

He also had a hurt shoulder. I don't think he played in 2016. He may be able to request a waiver based on family. He may also argue that he already sat out 2016

Based on that article, I don't think he sat out the whole year. Looks like it was around the week of the Pitt game and they were having to replace him as starter... Not 100% sure but that's the way the article read.
