David Waters just said on twitter that the reason we haven't landed DT Tyrone Truesdell is because Mac & co are slow playing him and aren't ready to accept his commitment. They believe they can land some bigger fish...

All I know is they BETTER land some bigger fish then... especially if the kid ends up tells them to F-off and then goes somewhere else. I truly believe this DT class could make or break Mac's tenure here. There is no room whatsoever to fail with that position this year. Just seems a bit risky to slow play a good player at a position of DESPERATE NEED...

I hope this isn't true. This kid should be a priority, especially since we lost the earlier commits. Even if a higher ranked kid comes along later, figure it out, DAMMIT! Makes no sense!
Oh it's true...I was just asking him and chad neipling about it.
BTW, who is David Waters?
He covers the Gators for SEC Country I believe. Also has a podcast called the Gators breakdown.

They believe they can land some bigger fish. Smh...unbelievable! We are depleted at the position with 2 subpar DT'S coming back and they are slow playing kids? Wtf are these guys thinking? I mean why not take his commitment and then "IF" (and it's a big IF) we do land some better process him out? We need all the help we can get at DT right now and by them not taking his commitment is just another glaring example of this staff's incompetence!
This is why we always end up with nobody. This staff has no self or situational awareness at all. Mac cant consistently close and compete with the bigs but keeps thinking he can, and worse, that he can do so by coming in at the last minute. Not only is this stupid but these dorks are confident enough in their stupidity that they slow play talent at positions of dire need in the process. This staff will get fired this year for gross negligence and not a single one of them will have even had a clue that their jobs were in jeopardy lol.

dont we have a ton of open spots anyway. Even if we were to land these so called big fish they're holding out for, why cant you still take others that
are interested simply to boost numbers?

This kid says he's been "talking" to Florida (RB from Mobile, AL):

http://gridironnow.com/nicholas-sims-recruiting/

“Better late than never” is the story of the recruitment of running back Nicholas Sims, who is unranked by some recruiting services but is drawing not only SEC interest but SEC offers.

“I’ve been pushing my film for quite a while now and I just got connected with the right people at the right time,” Sims told GN. “Things just started to work out the way I wanted them to.”

Sims (5 feet 11, 200 pounds), from Mobile (Ala.) Murphy, had zero Power Five offers until January 4 — when Alabama offered. Yep, from zero Power Five offers to one from the Tide. He also now has an offer from Ole Miss.

“It was just exciting knowing another SEC program was looking at me,” Sims said. “It was another blessing, but I couldn’t get too excited because I’ve been talking to other schools as well. But it was a very exciting moment in my life.”

Sims also said he is talking to Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

“I’m still trying to soak it all in and I’m enjoying it as it’s going on,” he said. “It’s been a very stressful process for me. I’ve been trying to grind it out as much as I can. I guess I’m just getting blessed at the end.”

Why did it take schools so long to discover Sims?

“I really have no clue,” he said. “I just stayed patient with the process and everything started to work itself out.”

Sims says he received some help from a mentor that has helped in the recruiting process.

“My mentor that has really helped me along the way in my recruiting process is coach Terrence Perine,” he said. “He’s been a great help and he’s helped out a lot of athletes in the Mobile area.”

Terrence Perine is the father of Florida running back Lamical Perine.

Sims knows what he is looking for in a program.

“One of the things I look for in a school is, ‘Are they centered around my particular major?’ I look at education first because a degree can take you a lot farther than football,” Sims said. “I also look at how a program is doing and what type of offense are they running. How are they going to use me in their scheme?”

Sims has official visits lined up to Alabama on January 21 and to Ole Miss on January 27.

Three SEC finalists (Alabama, Florida, Tennessee) for 4-star DL Elijah Conliffe

The next three weeks will decide the next four years for four-star defensive lineman Elijah Conliffe.

“I don’t have any official visits set just yet,” Conliffe told GN. “I’m just trying to get those officials set up; that’s where I’m at in the process right now.

“My four leaders are Penn State, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama.”

Conliffe (6 feet 4, 305 pounds) attends Hampton (Va.) High. He is one of the top-20 defensive tackles in the class of 2017.

As for the three SEC schools on his list …

“With Florida, I like the area. You always hear good things about Florida and there is a lot of opportunity there to play SEC ball like I want to play.”

“With Tennessee, I really like the staff and the campus in general.”

“With Alabama, they have really good football and a really good education. I have a good opportunity to get some playing time.”

Conliffe, who has received a lot more attention on the recruiting trail in recent weeks, is thankful for this opportunity.

“It’s a blessing and I’m really thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given,” he said. “It’s nice now seeing different teams showing interest, as well as seeing people who started recruiting me early still being here talking to me.”

When asked to describe the type of player he is on the field, Conliffe said, “I’m very coachable, I’m very aggressive and I love contact.”

Conliffe plans to commit January 31, the day before National Signing Day.

The good news is that the bowl is often wrong... so maybe we end up with Jones...

Thanks for this.. I was just trying to get my hopes up that we would pull of some great recruiting and maybe the staff isn't as bad as we think... you know... trying really hard with orange and blue glasses... then I read this and everything just crashes back down to reality!
