Honestly, I'd be fine with Nusschump getting fired and Butters taking the playcalling. I'd be pretty much happy with anyone replacing him. I don't know who the 128th OC was but pretty much anyone is an improvement. I can't come up with a known worse OC off the top of my head. He has proven to be terrible at multiple jobs with multiple coaches with many different sets of kids and going against many different levels of defensive talent. I don't know how more proven terrible you could be and still maintain employment. Even hiring someone with no experience, like Dameyune Craig or anyone else, at least it's not a known bad hire.

The last 3 years have been terrible for Nuss and it looks like now his decent numbers at Washington were probably the head coach actually calling most of that offense and at Bama the numbers he had were automatic and underwhelming when your personnel is that much better.

TCU: Former Cal head coach Sonny Dykes is joining Gary Patterson’s staff at TCU in a role to be determined, per a report 247. We are told Dykes will join the staff in an advisory role.

Good for this guy (although I've never heard of him):

Lafayette (PA):
Florida graduate assistant Christian Pace has joined the Lafayette staff as running backs coach. Pace worked at UF with new Lafayette head coach John Garrett.

Someone tell McElwain it's okay to make staff moves at any time:

Louisville: With the addition of Mike Summers, co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Chris Klenakis will move to tight ends. In addition, Inside linebackers coach / special teams coordinator Tony Grantham is no longer with the program.

Geoff Collins has completed his full-time coaching staff at Temple.

With a couple additions late last week, Collins has his nine full-time assistants and head strength coach. Collins takes over a Temple team coming off two straight 10-win seasons and an AAC title. It’s his first head coaching job, following two years as Florida’s defensive coordinator.

Here is the 2017 Temple staff:

2017%20Temple%20coaching%20staff.png

Collins retained three coaches from the previous staff, in wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson, tight ends coach Ed Foley, offensive line coach Chris Wiesehan. Foley has been on the Temple staff since 2008, while Jackson and Wiesehan for a few years.

To run the offense, Collins hired Dave Patenaude from Coastal Carolina. Patenaude annually produced some of the top offenses in FCS over his five years, including three 10-win seasons.

Running backs Tony Lucas spent the past four years at Delaware and previously worked at Georgetown under Patenaude.

Taver Johnson will run the defense, which is Collins’ side of the ball. Johnson spent three years at Purdue. He was Ohio State’s defensive backs coach from 2007-10, producing three consensus All-American DBs.

Elsewhere on defense, Jim Panagos will coach the defensive line. Panagos spent one year consulting at Pitt after four years at Rutgers. He worked at UCF from 2007-11, including two years there with Collins.

Linebackers coach Andrew Thacker worked closely with Collins at UCF as a graduate assistant. He spent one year at Kennesaw State. Defensive backs coach Cory Robinson spent one year at Toledo and was previously director of player personnel at Maryland. He also has high school coaching experience in Florida and Maryland. Head strength coach David Feeley was an assistant strength coach at FIU from 2008-10, spending one year there with Collins.

Collins’ first game as Temple head coach will be at Notre Dame, followed by home games against Villanova and UMass.

The potential addition of a 10th assistant coach could change things, but for now, keep track of new FBS staffs here.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: SOURCE: #Alabama LB coach/co-DC Tosh Lupoi, who has turned down a couple of Power 5 DC jobs, isn't expected to return to #Cal now.

This makes me sick. He turned us down and we landed our 3rd (or higher) choice.

- Nick Saban will have a new athletic director.

Alabama AD Bill Battle will retire and Arizona’s Greg Byrne will take over, per multiple reports. Byrne is very popular in the AD world and is one of the most media-friendly in the country. That last point is a complete 180 from what Alabama had. Byrne hired Dan Mullen at Mississippi State and Rich Rodriguez at Arizona.

Alabama also secured Byrne while Tennessee and Texas are also looking for an athletic director. That tells you how good this job is and how organized Alabama is. One reason Saban has been so consistent at the top level is he’s been given everything he needs. From top to bottom, there is organizational synergy.

Byrne is only 45 years old, meaning it’s very likely he’ll be tasked with hiring Saban’s replacement when that day comes. Whenever that happens, it’ll be one of the biggest stories in modern college football history. No pressure.

Locksley official at Bama now. Plan in place, hire who you need, keep the ball rolling. Mac is flat on his face and by the time he sits up he'll be standing right in front of an exit sign.

We finish 2 years in a row w/ the 100+ ranked offense and - so far - the only change is the OL coach, who found himself a better job.

Meanwhile, our opponents are shaking things up all over the place:

This has already been announced, but look at the guy LSU brought in from Pitt:

- Matt Canada will move from a record-setting year at Pitt to take over an LSU offense that averaged 28.3 points per game, down 4.5 points from 2015. Canada's Pitt offense broke the school record for points in a season. He took over the No. 68 scoring offense and took them to No. 10 in one season.

Impossible.

It takes 4 years to even start recruiting at a school, once you develop relationships, then it will take 2-3 more years to turn an offense around.

I mean what do the pumpers have to say about this? Seriously? Do they just live with their heads in the sand? Or do they just "trust the coaches?

It's all the fans fault, any fan expressing anything other then "THE FUTURE IS GREAT, ALL HAIL THE GREAT LEADER" is to blame for poor recruiting, poor offensive output and a team that gets blown out 25 percent of the time.

Doomers have created a mythological "Pumper" who worships Mac, thinks Mac can do no wrong.
They put any poster who points to some positive aspect about Mac's first 2 years into that "all-out" pumpers
category. As such, there's got to be a subset of posters who don't know where to stand? For they can't be
false and hammer-smash those actual positive facts to go 100% negative. ?? Thus, it seems there is no place
for them in this forum ... maybe they're so sensitive that an internet forum is not for them?

This happened today (another example of a head coach not waiting to make a move):

North Carolina: Texas A&M defensive backs coach Terry Joseph will join the UNC staff in the same role, according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. Joseph spent three years at A&M and previously coached DB’s at Nebraska and Tennessee.

the problem is they exist. I don't see them here, but they exist on twitter to my knowledge. Today they were attacking Stampini for having the nerve to report something that they say ruined anther super secret Mac flip that was in the works. they are also blaming Leatherwood on him now as well. As for trying to recognize the good, which there has been some, its just the bad has been far worse and makes it hard to see.

Where is this school (that I've never heard of) getting the money to start a football program from scratch?

Keiser University (FL): Former Buffalo Bills offensive assistant Doug Socha will be the program’s first football coach, according to ESPN West Palm. Socha spent one year with the Bills and was previously a high school coach in South Florida. The Keiser program will begin play in 2018.
