Gators in contact with New Orleans safety Joe Foucha, teammate of Florida signee Brad Stewart

Back to the well?
Florida dipped into New Orleans in the last recruiting cycle to land 4-star cornerback Brad Stewart, just the second Louisiana recruit to sign with UF since 2001.

The Gators are now eyeing another defensive back from Stewart’s high school (McDonogh 35) for the Class of 2018. Joe Foucha, a 3-star safety, has been in contact with the Florida staff.

“First it was the defensive coordinator that hit me up, and then another coach,” Foucha told SEC Country. “They’ve hit me up on DM and a different person will follow me every other week. As days go by, I’ve been talking to different people from Florida.”

However, an offer has yet to come. Foucha holds more than 20 offers at this time, including Alabama and Florida State. He’s confident the Gators will join that mix.

“Hopefully an offer will come,” said Foucha, who added that Stewart is like a brother to him. “They told me they want to see me up at their school in person, so I’ll be setting up a day to go there. If I come up and see the place, they’ll know that I’m interested.”

The 5-foot-11, 194-pound prospect listed Arkansas, Auburn and Florida as the schools standing out and recruiting him the hardest. He plans to release a top 10 later this month.

“I’m releasing my top (group) on May 17,” Foucha said. “When I narrow it down, I’ll still be open, but those will be the schools I’m going to focus on and keep in contact with. So now I just want to get May 17 out of the way, drop the top schools and hopefully it leads to getting a smaller (group).

“The recruitment is kind of tough. There’s a lot going on for me to figure out a school, get comfortable with the coaches and visit some of the places to see how it is. Not me just hearing about it, but going to see it for myself.”

UF offers C.J. Henderson’s brother
Another prospect with a connection to Florida’s 2017 class is being recruited by the Gators. Xzavier Henderson, the younger brother of UF cornerback signee C.J. Henderon, received an offer from the staff Tuesday.

The 2020 wide receiver from Miami also holds an early offer from the hometown Hurricanes. The in-state rivals had a tight battle for C.J. Henderson that went down to the wire.

Here are some other recruits who have received offers from the Gators this week:

  • 2019 offensive tackle Trente Jones, Loganville, Ga.
  • 2019 defensive end Chris Hinton, Norcross, Ga.
  • 2019 linebacker King Mwikuta, Lagrange, Ga.
  • 2019 athlete Ronald Thompkins, Loganville, Ga.
  • 2019 safety Kenyatta Watson, Loganville, Ga. (Florida State commit)
  • 2019 safety Ke’shun Brown, Montgomery, Ala.
  • 2020 wide receiver Kobe Hudson, Lagrange, Ga.
  • 2020 offensive tackle Myles Hinton, Norcross, Ga.

OMG, you're hilarious! It must be your deft delivery. Did you write for Seinfeld???

If so CGgater, he wrote that episode where Kramer brought that date who overlaughed the audience and booed and heckled Jerry into faltering his set.

I didn't watch a ton of Seinfeld, so I don't know that one. But I'll just go with it...

Absolutely not!

Hey, I'm a Mustang. Prior Navy AND CG enlisted. I respect those anchors AND stars!

Are you still at HQ? I was just there to sit on the Reserve Policy Board and can't believe I didn't PM you ahead of time to give you adequate warning. Not that I had any spare time to say hi... 3 days to cover 25+ issues. Both enlightening and painful.

And of course I know you respect the stars. Just poking ya, sir!

I'm TDY in Norfolk at FORCECOM. I am back and forth between HQ and FC. I'm getting per diem, so it's a pretty sweet deal. Trying to squeeze one more tour, unless I make O5. Hit me up next time, I'll let you buy me lunch! :D

Gators offer Michigan RB commit

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-gators-christian-turner-Michigan

RB board expanding
Florida continues to pound the pavement in search of a second running back for the Class of 2018.

The Gators extended an offer Thursday to Christian Turner, a Michigan commit from Buford, Ga. The 3-star recruit committed to the Wolverines on April 10 after attending Michigan’s spring game.

Turner holds offers from than two dozen schools and earned an invite in late March to “The Opening,” an annual combine for the nation’s top recruits at Nike world headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.

The 5-foot-11, 187-pound prospect rushed from 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. Here are his junior highlights.

The Gators want to sign two backs in the 2018 recruiting and have several options on their board. The top target is 4-star RB Asa Martin (Decatur, Ala.), who lists UF as his No. 1 school over Auburn but recently picked up an offer from Alabama.

Florida’s other targets at the position are FSU commit James Cook (Miami), Alabama commit Dameon Pierce (Bainbridge, Ga.), Tennessee commit Jashaun Corbin (Melbourne, Fla.) and 3-star RB Lavonte Valentine (Melbourne, Fla.).

The Gators landed a commitment last month from 4-star back Iverson Clement (Mount Holly, N.J.), who impressed last Sunday at the New Jersey regional for The Opening.

3-star WR names UF in top 5
Demarcus Gregory has a handful of schools standing out in his recruitment.

The 3-star wide receiver from Duncan, S.C., told Rivals.com his top 5 schools are Florida, N.C. State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Here’s what the 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect said about the Gators:

“Florida is just a nice place and produce a lot of top talent. Coach Dixon offered me as soon as I got on campus so that shows how interested they really are. We’ve been talking every day. They’re coming by to see me in the spring and we’ve been building a better relationship so we’ll see how that turns out. They are opening up their offense and they told me they are going to spread it around a little more.”

Florida offers New Orleans CB
Another recruit who received a UF offer Thursday was Devin Bush, a 2019 cornerback from New Orleans.

The 5-foot-11, 184-pound prospect also holds early offers from Auburn, LSU and Georgia. The Gators have had success at his high school, Edna Karr, in recent years.

One of Florida’s top signees in the 2014 class was 4-star defensive tackle Gerald Willis III, the first Louisiana recruit to sign with the Gators in 13 years.

However, the Under Armour All-American was dismissed from the program after his freshman season and now plays for Miami. Florida is also in contact with Joe Foucha, a 2018 safety from New Orleans.

New offers
Three recruits landed offers from the Gators on Friday.

Florida pulled the trigger on 3-star wide receiver Dennis Briggs (Kissimmee, Fla.), 2019 safety Trikweze Bridges (Lanett, Ala.) and 2019 offensive tackle Kenyon Green (Humble, Texas).

Green, an LSU commit, has a 5-star rating and is ranked the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 19 overall prospect by 247Sports.

Summer A enrollees
Two members of Florida’s 2017 class will join the football program in the coming days.

Quarterback Jake Allen (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and offensive tackle T.J. Moore (Charlotte, N.C.) report to UF this weekend for the Summer A semester, which begins May 8.

Moore moves into his dorm room Saturday, while Allen will arrive on campus Sunday.

Another UF signee, cornerback Shawn Davis (Miami), also hoped to enroll Monday, but could not get cleared in time. Davis initially planned to enroll early in January but was short on credits.

Moore was one of Florida’s top-rated offensive signees and hails from the same high school (Mallard Creek) as former Gators offensive tackle D.J. Humphries. Allen, the first commit of the class, won back-to-back state championships with St. Thomas Aquinas.

“It’s going to be crazy,” Allen said of his enrollment. “I’m not coming home to my bedroom anymore. It’s just going to be a lot different, but I can’t wait. I’ve been looking forward to it all spring.

“It took a lot to get to this point, but the work has just begun. I haven’t arrived or peaked yet. I’m still going up. There’s always room for improvement and I’m ready to keep growing.”

Gators coach Jim McElwain congratulated Allen and Moore on Friday for graduating early.

Five members of Florida’s 2017 class were mid-year enrollees: defensive tackle Kyrie Campbell, tight end Kemore Gamble, linebacker James Houston, offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort and athlete Kadarius Toney, who played quarterback in the spring.

Davis and the 15 remaining signees are expected to enroll next month for the Summer B semester, which begins June 26.

I didn't realize Davis can't qualify. How many kids total do we have that may not qualify out of this class?

Lemons, TJ Slayyon, Davis, who else am I missing?

Robinson also if he didn't pass a test he just took I think. If we were to lose 2 of those blue chippers Mac's class is no better than the last one.

An excited Lang picks
up a Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators have been giving out a lot of offers over the last few weeks but most them have been to underclassmen in the 2019 and 2020 classes.

However last week running backs coach JaJuan Seider offered tight end Dante Lang (6-5, 220, Boca Raton, FL. High) after he watched him practice.

“Coach Seider offered me,” Lang said of the Gators coach who offered him last week. “He watched my practice and then I called him and he told me about the offer. He said he knew I could play but he just had to me play a little.”

Lang has already picked up double-digit offers but he says getting one from the Gators was a big one.

“It means a lot, to be honest,” he said of the offer means to him. “Florida is just one of my favorite schools and I was excited to get the offer.”
The 2018 prospect plays both tight end and defensive end in high school but Florida sees him on offense in college.

“He offered me as a tight end after watching me,” Lang said of where Florida wants him. “Coach Nord said that it’s rare to find a tight end like me because I can catch and block at my size.”

Despite not having a lot of playing time at tight end, Lang says several schools see that as his future position.

“I play both tight end and defensive end so it’s fine,” he said. “I have a couple of offers at tight end already so it’s fine, I actually like playing tight end.”
Before Florida offered Lang, the tight end took a visit to Gainesville for Florida’s spring game and it was a good visit he says.

“The school is amazing, to be honest and the game was fun,” Lang said of his visit to Florida’s spring game. “I like how they did their rotation on offense and a lot of guys played.”

The Gators offer was a big one to Lang but he’s no rush to make a decision as he has some summer visits planned.

“I’m waiting to see who all offers me and then I’m going to take visits,” he said. “I will probably commit before the end of the season.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Arkansas is the school most talked about with Lang but the Gators made a big impression on him when they offered him. Lang is planning on visiting Gainesville and Arkansas this summer before taking official visits this fall.

Florida Gators among several SEC programs pursuing QB Jarren Williams

Hot commodity
Despite his 3-star rating, Jarren Williams is one of the most coveted prospects in the Class of 2018.

Since the evaluation period began last month, a who’s who of SEC coaches have visited Central Gwinnett High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., to feast their eyes on the 6-foot-2, 206-pound quarterback.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee have all paid a visit to the former Kentucky commit, who backed off his pledge on April 24 as his recruitment continued to escalate.

Williams visited UF on March 23 and received an offer from the Gators that day. He’s one of the top quarterback targets for Florida coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.

“Florida has told me a lot that I’m their guy over and over,” Williams told SEC Country. “They haven’t specifically said I’m No. 1, but they said they want me.”

Williams added that Alabama, Kentucky and LSU also have him high on their QB boards. Florida State is another school that’s heavily recruiting Williams, who has recently visited FSU, Kentucky and Tennessee in addition to UF.

“I really loved the campus,” Williams said of his Florida trip. “I actually have a very good relationship with the coaches at Florida — Coach Nuss and Coach Mac. I spent time with them on my visit there.”

Though he’s only been back on the market for a couple weeks, Williams wants to make another commitment soon. He plans to shut down his recruitment after his next pledge and stop taking visits.

“It will definitely be before the season,” Williams said of a decision timeline. “I was trying to get it done after spring practice [this coming Friday], but if not then, it should be sometime soon after then — maybe a few weeks after.”

Kentucky still in it

The decision to back off his Kentucky pledge did not come easy for Williams. He had been committed to the Wildcats for more than 10 months and still lists them as his top team.

“I just talked to my dad and coach and came to the decision that the best thing to do was de-commit because I wanted to visit some other schools,” Williams said. “Out of the respect to the University of Kentucky, I didn’t want to give them a bad look because I am the quarterback and considered the face of the program’s class.”

Williams feels Florida, Florida State and Kentucky give him the best opportunity to play early in his college career. As uncommon as it seems, Williams said he can see myself rejoining the Wildcats’ class.

“To me, it’s not all about the name. It’s bigger than that,” Williams said of Kentucky. “It’s about the relationships and loyalty they have showed me. I have the strongest relationship with them. I feel very comfortable there. I know the players very well. It feels like home there.”

What will it take for another program to surpass Kentucky?

“I really just have to have that feeling about that school that it’s the right place for me,” Williams said. “I have to pray a lot about this. God is going to show me where to go. That’s what is going to happen when it comes time.”

:ohnoez::ohnoez::ohnoez:

He isn't 6'5". He is a midget. He is the next Treon! He can't see over the line. 6'2" on the roster means probably 5'11" (that part is probably true).
