I just spent over 2k to build this new PC. I think I'll save a few pennies and just save a few vital items on my laptop and then re-download the rest. If/When I decide my only remaining option is to re-install windows.

Amazon. That cost includes the Oculus Rift headset and controllers, but yeah, it was a pretty expensive project.

That makes much more sense with the rift but yeah I tend to piecemeal parts from variety of dealers to get lowest prices

I usually go to the local mom & pop PC shop and have them order what I want, but it never fails, every damn time it takes a week or more for everything to come in. With Amazon, I had everything within 3 days (free shipping), and that was including a holiday weekend. So yeah, I probably paid a few more dollars for expediency.

Ok ferg, got a new 3TB seagate HD. Transferred all files I wanted to save to that. Then plugged in the CD/DVD drive and put the old Win7 CD in and booted from CD to try and format the C drive then do a clean install, but I have no mouse cursor to click anything on the screen to advance. In fact, it appears the screen just locks up completely. What's going on? Why is my PC locking up while trying to load up & perform the win7 install?

Just saw this NavetG8r, I would have responded way earlier. I have both the Rift and Vive since their pre-order, I'm honestly ready for the next generation. What was your old hardware setup? You probably didn't need to upgrade anything but your graphics card....CPU's and RAM haven't really advanced that much as far as gaming is concerned over several generations. Its all about the GPU.

My setup is an old ASUS Maximus V Formula motherboard with an i7 3770K CPU and 16GB of DDR3 1600mHz RAM. Pretty long in the tooth, but it runs everything VR you can throw at it because I upgraded to a 980Ti GPU. There is nothing VR that it can't handle and you don't even have to run it at lower settings, Ultra settings on everything. The only thing that would benefit greatly from a better CPU would be flight simulators, but the offerings out there suck so bad I'm not worried about that.

And yes, Google Earth is awesome....I imagine in 10 years time it will be unreal.

For the next generation I am going to start from scratch. This generation didn't require it.
