Report: Florida WR Antonio Callaway offered plea deal following marijuana citation

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/f...fered-plea-deal-following-marijuana-citation/

Potential good news for Florida junior Antonio Callaway as the star receiver reportedly has a chance to see his charge of marijuana possession dropped.

Callaway was cited last month for marijuana possession in Gainesville. The incident gained more attention when it was revealed the Gator receiver was in the presence of a much older man with an extensive arrest record.

According to Robbie Andreu of The Gainesville Sun, Callaway has been offered a deal that could lead to his drug charge being dropped.

Florida WR Antonio Callaway has been offered a deal by the State Attorney that would see his marijuana possession charge dropped.

— Robbie Andreu (@RobbieAndreu) June 5, 2017

If Callaway pleads guilty to the possession of drug paraphernalia, the possession of marijuana charged will be dismissed.

Andrea apparently believes Callaway could still miss the season opener against Michigan, despite his drug charges potentially being dropped by the State Attorney’s office.

Callaway could still be facing disciplinary action from Coach Mac and/or the university that could include a one-game suspension.

Considering Callaway has accumulated 89 catches for 1,399 yards and seven touchdowns the last two seasons for the Gators despite Florida’s often troubled situation at quarterback and offensive line, his stat line doesn’t quite match his value to the offense. He’s capable of scoring nearly every time he touches the ball and the Gators’ task in the opener in Texas against Michigan would become that much more difficult without him.

While no suspension or punishment has officially been handed out by Florida, based on this latest news, the chances that Callaway is in the lineup for the season opener likely just went up.

Mac should throw the book at him, so make that accompanying old felon run the stadium steps. (Might get us some cred with the GPD?)

If it wasn't Mich everyone would agree that he should sit a game.

As someone else said, he should've joined the baseball team and gotten the suspension over with.

Well I think everyone pretty much figured that was all he would get. The only question really was is he gonna miss the Michigan game, guess we'll have to wait till game week or day to find out.

Just before Fall practice begins, rent one of those carnival machines. After every practice players line up to throw baseballs at the tarbet that dumps Callaway into a vat of vinegar (or team's piss).

Suspend the dip**** otherwise this is the kind of stuff whereby you can lose the team. Rules apply to everyone.

I don't care WHO is on the field, we aren't passing much. I don't think he will affect the outcome of the game. For that matter, given his history as a punt returner, he may well hurt of if he is on the field with STs.

Suspend him. It's more important than to have the team than to have one win anyway.

Once you lose the team, you will never get them back. This is critical. And it's not like he hasn't been warned already. THERE IS NO FVKKING REASON FOR HIM TO EVEN BE IN THE CAR WITH THAT POS DRUG DEALER.

I actually agree with Swonkey. :barfaway:

You have to suspend him, or risk losing the team's respect.

The losing the team argument is kinda funny give how many coaches don't suspend. Question. Did Bobby Bowden ever lose a team?
