FAU: NC State assistant director of player personnel Landan Salem has joined FAU as director of player personnel & pro liaison. Salem spent the past two years at Pitt and briefly joined NC State this spring. In addition, Goldenwest JC quarterbacks coach Chris Perkins has joined FAU as player development assistant, former USC graduate assistant Jaron Fairman has joined FAU as player development assistant, and former Ole Miss GA Davis Merrit has joined FAU as player development assistant.

Auburn: Director of recruiting operations Brett Whiteside will add administrative duties within the program, according to 247Sports’ Auburn site, possibly taking the title of director of football operations. Whiteside has been at Auburn since 2013, in his second stint. It’s the third off-field staffing change in the past month at Auburn.

Notre Dame: Former recruiting assistant Olivia Mitchell has rejoined Notre Dame as coordinator of football operations. Mitchell was a recruiting assistant from 2012-2016, and she spent last fall as an intern with the College Football Playoff.

Alabama: Operations coordinator Brandy Lyerly has been promoted to associate director of football operations.

Arizona State: Plano Senior High School (TX) defensive coordinator Brent Graham has accepted a position at Arizona State. Graham is the nephew of ASU head coach Todd Graham and worked under him at Tulsa from 2007-08.

I guess I'm just weird, but I find it incredibly weird that we have a thread dedicated to following "other schools" coaching hires. I could see how it would be a big deal if it were a coach we were after and they chose to go to a different school instead, but coaches we aren't involved with in any way? Just weird to me...

I always laugh when I read a "knowledgeable" poster say, "I didn't know he was coaching there!"....and the guy has been at that school for 2 years or something.

Most fans (of all schools) think that their program is the only one that exists and are surprised that a team like UMass could only be down 10-7 going into the 4th quarter vs. our Mighty Gators. Well, maybe UMass was actually practicing during the off-season?? And maybe they have some decent coaches. If you followed this thread maybe you could pick up on that.

I think it's a great way, for those that are interested (obviously you aren't), to keep track of what other schools are doing. For example, most everyone on this and other Gator sites accuses every other school of cheating at recruiting. Well, maybe the other school's staff works harder than ours? Maybe they dedicate more money to hiring good recruiters, good support staff, etc. If you've followed this thread, you can easily see that other programs are dedicating resources and human capital to that effort.....and you can see, by the lack of UF mentions (hires), that maybe we're not.

It's the off-season. If you have an idea for something for us to talk about vs. hearing everyone b*tch about how bad Nuss is, or how yellow McElwain's teeth are then have at it.....

I just don't see much value in following hundreds of quality control/film study & assistant staff members at 116 schools not named UF. That's the coaches' jobs and they get paid well to do it. I don't. I could see value in it if I were a sports reporter, or pundit, or podcast creator, but not much for the average Joe like myself. Like I said, maybe I'm just weird.

Alabama: Personnel assistant JT Summerford has been promoted to assistant director of football operations. Summerford has been at Alabama since 2012.

With Bob Stoops retiring, how much longer does 65-year-old Nick Saban think he’ll go?

“As long as I feel good, I love doing it,” he said Thursday. “I’ve been a part of a team since I was nine years old. It scares me to death to figure what it’ll be like when I’m not a part of a team. As long as I’m healthy and can do it, we certainly have every intention of trying to do it. If I felt like I couldn’t do it to a standard I want to do it, then that will be time not to do it. I certainly don’t feel like that’s anytime soon.”

Has he had any thoughts about when that could come?

“I don’t think anybody can not have those thoughts, but I want to do it as long as I feel like I can I enjoy being around the players,” he said. “I enjoy trying to create value for them and their futures, whether it’s personal development, seeing them graduate, seeing them develop as players. I think we do it as well at Alabama as anywhere, and I’m proud of that.”

Lincoln Riley isn’t heading to Oklahoma’s satellite camps. His first order of business is handling the current team.

“The most important thing here is our players,” he told ESPN. “I've tried to clear out as much (time) as I can. Our coaches are down in Dallas and Houston today at a satellite camp. I made the decision to not go, because I want to be around our guys as much as possible and make sure that they have a clear direction of where we're going -- and that they're good.

““I've been around them a lot in the last 12 to 16 hours. That's been really positive, and I'll be sprinkling in staff meetings, recruiting, and all kinds of organizational aspects that you can imagine are taking place right now."

Bret Bielema admits it’s become more difficult to evaluate high school linemen due to the growth of spread and no-huddle offenses.

“It’s harder for us,” he said on SportsTalk with Bo Mattingly. “We’ll watch some teams, sure he’s 6-foot-5, 295 pounds and looks like he runs and can bend, but you don’t see him push anybody around. Or he doesn’t use the same concepts or techniques we use.”

The same trickles up to the NFL.

“Talking to different league personnel, the quality of O-linemen that are truly demonstrating the things they need to see to get evaluated, to see if they can perform at the next level, is tremendously down,” Belema said. “Very few teams let a franchise quarterback use a left tackle that’s using a butt block or techniques that are not NFL style. Things we do offensively, you put your hands on people, you move them, you double team, you pull, you do different things. The game doesn’t have as much of it.”

Mark Richt took a little dig at Clemson while accepting a key to the city of Miami, referencing Clemson's new facility.

“It’s like no other place in America,” Richt said of Miami, per the Palm Beach Post. “Even in recruiting, we can sell things that no one else can sell. They can build all they want. They can have all they want. I mean, there’s schools building slides and playgrounds in their building, just so they can have fun. I said, we’ve got the beach. We don’t have to build some slide to have fun.”

Oklahoma State: Mike Gundy has signed a new 5-year rollover contract. Gundy will be paid $4.2 million annually, with $125,000 annual increases. Gundy previously earned $3.9 million. He is 104-50 in 12 seasons. The school announced a two-year extension through 2021 for Gundy last summer, but it was never signed, and Gundy said in December they hadn’t yet come to an agreement. Now, they have.

Scroll down to football, I don't see any new names (that I recall). It's a solid staff, but I'm sure Hughes would like a few more assistants. Not many "analysts" or "quality control" types though:
