Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio calls out NCAA amateurism after seeing UF’s large revenue

The NCAA’s “amateurism” argument took a hit on Thursday when the USA Today released data showing nine-figure revenue amounts for several SEC schools and Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio has taken notice.

According to the USA Today report, Florida hauled in $144M in revenue last year, good enough for No. 8 nationally. Joining the Gators in the top-1o were Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee and Auburn.

Del Rio is not the first athlete to call the NCAA’s amateur policies into question and he won’t be the last. Last October, the Supreme Court decided not to hear the Ed O’Bannon case, which argues players should receive compensation for their names and likenesses while in college.

Del Rio is expected to be the backup signal caller for the Gators in 2017, behind Notre Dame transfer Malik Zaire. Florida’s season starts on Sept. 2 against Michigan in Arlington, Texas.

Yep, and he's getting a scholarship.....and this is just a year after the COA money started getting paid out. He fails to mention the schools, like North Texas - the team that marred his season - lose money in football.

Well, if college players were to be paid according to their worth he might not be very happy with his paycheck.
