Blue package? I thought it had SEC network, but it doesn't look that way for the Gainesville area. Any info? The website isn't real helpful.

Only local Tampa channel I know about is Fox. So I'd say no.

Apparently they signed a bunch of other affiliates last week according to Cordcutters, just didn't see the list of affiliates listed. I know users with streaming local channels pay $5-10 more per package.

I am on the middle teir so it doesn't effect me then. Wonder why the change.
Looks like all the prices are changing.

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/

There are still 4 tiers, but the names and costs have shifted.
Access, now the lowest tier is 39.99...lowest was 29.99
Core, 2nd tier is 44.99..2nd was 34.99
Elite, 3rd tier is 54.99...3rd was 44.99
Ultra, top tier is 74.99...was 64.99

Best I can tell..no additions to channel line up.

Effective 7/6/2017 for new customers, PlayStation™Vue plans will have the same nationwide pricing, as follows:

  • Access: $39.99/mo*
  • Core: $44.99/mo*
  • Elite: $54.99/mo*
  • Ultra: $74.99/mo*
If you are already subscribing at one of the prices above, your price will not change.

If you have Access Slim, Core Slim, Elite Slim, or Ultra Slim pricing, you will keep your current price for three billing cycles after the July 6 pricing change announcement. At the conclusion of this period, your monthly subscription will change (on your subscription renewal date) to the pricing above, based on the plan you have. If you upgrade, downgrade, or re-subscribe during this special pricing period, currently available pricing will apply.

Douglas...are any of the big 4 live in your area on PS vue?

According to that cnet article:
Sony claims PlayStation Vue has launched more live local broadcast stations (ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC) than any other Internet-based pay-TV provider, with least one local broadcast station for over 78 percent of the US population.

The updated pricing is not entirely out of line with the other options, though you'd think PS vue upping their prices to the other options isn't really going to help them with market share....especially if they haven't fixed the buffering issue for a lot of people.

Sling being the cheapest entry level, but you get much less in selection than the others at that level.

on Sling tv....SEC Network, as well as ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN 3, ESPNU, and ESPNews are only on the Orange package (the cheaper of the two anyway.) $20/month

The Orange plan only allows for a single stream at a time though..
Blue plan offers multiple streams (I believe up to 3 if you have the Blue plan only)...if you do both Orange and Blue plan (are they Gators or what? ) then I believe you get up to 4 simultaneous streams.

Orange plan is $20/month...Blue plan is $25/month, and if you do both it's $40/month.

It gives the channel line up right on their main page. Set up in columns based on station type...sports, entertainment, comedy, etc. Below the logo for each channel is the color plan it is on. https://www.sling.com/

I'm not sure and maybe @grengadgy can answer this because he uses sling tv, but I don't think they have any built in DVR service either like PS vue does.

Slingtv changed their website recently, and it has become less user friendly with the layout and deciphering costs of the plans outside of the Orange plan, or how the add ons compare.

I currently get Fox, but I have heard that the company that owns the ABC affiliate is in negotiations.

Seems to be part of the reason Sony is justifying the change in price, so I was just wondering.

Not sure the new prices would run me off though..still significantly cheaper than cable.

I have been following on cordcutters (pops up every morning on my alerts) where they have been signing a lot of the companies who own the affiliates. It just have to be when they hit us. One article mentioned how they believe they will have most the country (if not all) by middle of next year.

Seems CBS is playing hardball all around though aren't they?

I guess PSvue is trying to be the one stop shop though. Would certainly simplify the set up, though I wouldn't want to pay much more than their new prices because in total, internet and streaming costs would start to reach cable levels.

Sling does have a DVR option $5 more now, The basic Orange only gives ESPN & ESPN2 I think and the rest, ESPN3, ESPN News, SEC, ACC, BIG1 PAC12 all comes with the additional $5 more sports package.

CBS is pushing their own digital services... but why would I buy them if I can pick them up on antenna?

less equipment is the only thing I can think of lol, though I guess it depends on each persons setup.
I guess I was saying two different things there and it ran into one, I was saying that ps vue is trying to become a one stop shop, separately, I was saying I wouldn't want to pay much more (if any) than ps vue's new rates...in other words if they think continuing to add live major networks is going to give them a free pass to continue raising rates, they are probably going to lose out to competition.
Too many options now.

I hope that realize that as well... I know the pricing model has always been 5/10 (depending on tier) higher for the areas already with CBS/NBC/ABC live. So if that is the change they are making, I'm willing to take the $5 more that it appears I might be paying. The areas already paying the extra 5/10 were not in the price hike areas (203/250+ regions are possibly getting the hike).
