Bringing in a baseball player huh? It makes sense to round out the staff and complement the basketball coach we hired last time

with him Nord, Nuss and Mac we will have a top 3 class

In the state? :D

(edit:saw someone beat me to this comment)

Well, I'm happy we're adding to the support staff (finally). Unless this is addition by subtraction (we lost the Callahan kid a few months ago and I don't recall ever seeing a replacement).

Wasn't Callahan replaced by Torian Gray over a year ago?

Does make sense in our present state, letting us "slide into second" at recruiting?

He was the head coach at Jacksonville Bishop Snyder from 2012 to 2015. I think that had a lot to do with McElwain bringing him on the staff. We need to improve our recruiting in the Jacksonville area and this guy is well known by the high school community in Duval County.

If he can help us turn things around in Duval then I'm glad to see him come on board.

Mac gained a strong foothold in South Florida with recent hires and now he is turning his attention to North Florida. I like it.

@Marianna-FL_Gator

I know he was the head coach of Bartow....but you're gonna have to educate us a little more on this guy

So UF now can not sign any players from Bartow for how long? Is it 2 years?

Well this article says 2 years before and after the hire:

https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/04/14/recruiting-rules-december-signing-period

A rule limiting the hiring of people associated with recruits

A new rule will ban the hiring of an “individual associated with a prospect”—this could be a high school coach, a parent or a seven-on-seven coach—to support positions for two years before and after the prospect signs. (This matches a rule already in place in basketball.)

Florida state adds Damien Craig and we add mr baseball. Mac lovers, this is why they own the state in recruiting and own our asses on the field. Glad this pleases you 2222.

Callahan's brother was on the support staff, Casey:

Florida’s support staff appears to have taken a hit as recruiting assistant Casey Callahan has reportedly left the program for the Tennessee Titans.

News of Callahan’s departure was first reported by ESPN recruiting analyst Derek Tyson. Tyson describes Callahan as one of ‘Florida’s best recruiting assistants.’

One of Florida's best recruiting assistant's Casey Callahan has accepted a job with the Tennessee Titans.

9:39 AM - 12 Apr 2017

Holding the official job title of Program Assistant II, Callahan has been a member of the Florida staff since 2014. His brother Kirk was the team’s defensive backs coach but was let go following the 2015 season.

Casey’s father Sean Callahan, the highly successful head coach at Armwood High School in Florida, took to Twitter to congratulate his son’s move to the NFL level.

We've conceded Jacksonville to FSU, Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson and anyone else who wants it. Similar to the state of Georgia.....
