I'm still relatively new around here, so I apologize if this has been done before. Anyway, I was recently in a discussion with a friend about how he has great luck with going to the Swamp. He's been to only a handful of games there, and just about every one of them has been exciting and memorable. I've been to over a hundred Gator games. Mostly in the Swamp, some in Jax, and a few road games and bowl games here and there. And while I have enjoyed most of them, there are certain games that truly stand out as being amazing (for one reason or another). So, my question to you all is this: what is your most memorable/favorite Gator game you've seen live?

My top 3 are: 1997 32-29 FSU
1995 62-37 UT
2015 28-27 UT

Great thread.

If we talking football it was the 2008 game vs LSU (was in Gainesville from 2003-2012). It was a night game and the atmosphere was electric. The fans were pumped up and we kicked their corndog butts.

If we talking basketball it was the 2007 championship game in Atlanta. I got teary eyed.

Best ones I saw were:

1. Tebow's final game at home vs FSU
2. Georgia game where Lito was beastly returning punts.

Can't remember the years.

Worst ever?

I don't remember the year but it was against Tennessee at home a few years back. Maybe with Tebow? We had around 100 yards of offense. The score was like 10-6. It was about a million degrees outside.

I've been lucky. In chronological order:

1990 OSU (Spurrier's first game as HBC)

1990 Auburn (our coming out party)

1991 Alabama (35-0)

1991 Tennessee (Larry Kennedy Int return for TD, the birth of the "Swamp")

1991 FSU 14-9 (most intense from start to finish, hardest hitting, incredible game, highly underrated, easily top 3 of all non-championship games)

1995 UT (Lawrence Wright hit, huge comeback, 7 straight TDs)

1996 @ UT (incredible first half)

1996 FSU Sugar Bowl, Bowl Coalition Championship (#1 game ever)

1997 FSU (Rotating QBs, full disclosure, I only saw the last few minutes live)

2004 @ FSU (dedication of Ron Zook Field)

2006 USC (the Cockblock)

2006 OSU Fiesta Bowl, BCS Championship

2008 UGA (Spikes hits Moreno, Urban calls 2 TOs)

2008 OU Orange Bowl, BCS Championship

2009 FSU (Tebow's last game, we owned them)

I want very badly to add to this list. I wasn't in Gainesville for the miracle comeback against Tennessee in 2015 but I was there for the rout of Ole Miss the following week. But Grier.

If we're talking worst... for me it's got to be the Swindle in the Swamp. Unbelievably frustrating. Also the 1999 Alabama game was regrettably memorable for being hot, steamy, and frustrating.

The Wilbur Marshal vs USC game in '82.
The West Texas game in '82. 77-14 And a dog on the field.
The Florida Georgia game in '84. We finally beat UGA (27-0 and a goal line stand) after years of losing to them.
Every Emmitt Smith game.
Every Spurrier game.
Every Tebow game.
And the 2008 NC game.

Yes, what a season at home '91 was. Bama, Tennessee, and FSU were all great games to be at. The 2006 "Cockblock" game might be my first choice for game I wish I had seen in person.

52-20 over FSU for our first NC.
After that for me is 97 FSU and 95 UT (the 2nd half rain game).
Oh, and that 95 FSU game was pretty good too.

The best game was probably the 97 FSU game.

The biggest game was the National Title vs. OU.

The best game I ever saw in person was the Hail Flutie game where BC beat Miami on the famous pass back in '84. I was young, but still remember that as an amazing game.

Best:
1986 UF vs Auburn - Best Game ever played in the Swamp
1997 UF vs FSU
I don't remember the opponent (some jobber school) but Shane Matthews was the QB and Willie Jackson caught the first TD (knew Willie due to Terry)... was the only game I watched with my grandfather.

Worst: 2007 UF vs UGA... hate UGA... Hate UGA... got free tickets the day before from my dad (sales person gave to him), a buddy and I drove up that day from St. Pete, Free tickets were 2nd row on the 20 (great view of the field) UGA side. Longest walk up the stairs I had made to leave a stadium.

Ugh, that 2007 UGA game was brutal. That's the game where Richt sent the whole team on the field after their first TD. But Brandon Spikes had something to say about that the next season.

I got kicked out of the UT rain game but snuck back in. The cop had every right to shoot me for the drunken insults I was launching at him.
The Cock Block had to be the instantaneous loudest.
And I got so drunk before the Tebow v FSU game that I spent the 2nd half in the restroom hugging a toilet but at least I could hear what was happening.
In the early Spurrier years with Shane Mathews it was soo damn fun to be at those games. SHAAAAANNNNE!
And I'll add any of the UGA games that we had them emptying the stands in the 3rd quarter but I'd have to look up what years those were.

Hall of shame games:
The 1980 Schnellenberger FG game.
1984 Again Miami. In Tampa. It was a wild game but Kosar pulled it off in the end. I hate losing to Miami more than any other team.
The Swindle.
And Spurrier's last game v UT.

The Natty over FSU was the best game I've seen on TV, but the '97 game in the Swamp was the best I've seen live. And that '08 UGA game was indeed one the most satisfying games ever.
