A lot of people buy into the myth about college football players that can't afford to go see a movie. The reality of it is that college football players get thousands of dollars to spend any way they want each semester.

The primary means of "spend any way you want" cash is through the off campus housing stipend. Any college athlete that chooses to live off campus is eligible to receive a monthly stipend to pay for housing, utilities and food. The amount varies as each school determines the average cost of living in their community. At the University of Washington the stipend was $1,600 per month in 2016.

If four players decide to be roommates then they split the costs four ways. Let's say they rent a house for $2,000 per month and the utilities cost another $500 per month. The four players are given a collective $6,400 and actually spend $2,500. That leaves $975 per player per month that the NCAA will allow them to spend any way they want. They can still eat the food provided for free on campus. Add in the Pell Grant money and the $45 per diem they are given on any day they are required to attend practice, meetings, games or other official events and the money adds up. Then you have to add in the full-cost-of-attendance stipends and any player that claims they can't afford a movie is simply not managing the money well.
Dude, you have killed it in this thread... Thanks for filling in some of the gaps i have always had questions about...

So because I said you guys need a group therapy session over a college athlete saying college athletes want to get paid, I support LDR to be our starting QB? I see the mental gymnastics reach past the political realm.

The last thing in the world I want is for LDR to play another down here. That being said, if our coach was dumb enough to start him I would do my best to get behind him.

If mental gymnastics were a sport this board would win the Olympics.

no one is doing any more mental gymnastics than you are...For starters, posting about something doesn't equate to anger...as you already stated earlier. No one here is angry for LDR being a complete moron, in fact the majority of us are laughing our collective asses off at him. Secondly, it isn't THAT he thinks college players should be payed, it's how disconnected from reality his reasons for justifying paying players is. He thinks UF made 141 million in total revenue thus he should be paid...think about that, nevermind that the school is already paying north of 300k over a four year span for the average football player benefits.
Meanwhile, he continues to pretend that he is some podunk kid from the white ghetto that doesn't have a penny to his name, yet has a father that literally brings in millions upon millions per year in salary..sorry if I don't buy that he is having to eat ramen every night :jerkit:

Oh and no one said anything about anyone supporting him to be STARTER...you're projecting ;) talk about mental gymnastics.

One last thing, this happens to be a period of time that he should be buckling down and focusing on football, getting himself, and his arm, back up to par (as if he could ever hit par with that noodle arm :lol2: )...instead he is on social media like a 14 year old girl pissin and moaning about schit he doesn't deserve and hasn't earned, and when anyone has the audicity to disagree with him, he blocks them, not kidding..I heard it from several other people, not just myself. If there is a limit to the number of people you can block on twitter, he is absolutely nearing it

If he wants to put himself out there on social media begging for a debate or an argument, he shouldn't be surprised when he gets one. He is an entitled spoiled brat...you're welcome to defend him if you want, makes no sense to me, but whatevs.
