Any suggestions on a truck bed cover?

Just bought a Tundra a few weeks ago (first pick-up I've ever owned). Need a bed cover for it but not sure which kind to buy. Have been looking at a Gator Trax cover that's aluminum slats and slides back into a coil. It can be locked in numerous positions. Anyone have one of those or something similar?

I havent really looked at the brands, but going by the name you used I personally like these, particulary the FX3 model, sits more flush with the top of the bed than the others.

Friend of mine had one like it on his truck, though I don't know if it is the same brand, and it works really well, not heavy to manipulate, and isn't just some canvas that can be cut through.
Fully intend to get one whenever I am able to get a truck.

Of the roll up ones, I like this one the best

most reinforcement.

I have a Bak-flip cover on mine. Seems to work reasonably well. Can support up to 200lbs on top of the cover. I use it in conjunction with a bed extender to keep small loads accessible. You can fold it all the way up against the rear glass if you need to use the whole truck bed.

IMG_4834.JPG This came on my Raptor, but the tag is gone. It's similar to what Zambo describes and locks as well as folds all the way up onto window. No problem putting a quad on the back either with it folded up to window.

That Raptor is one good looking truck. Since I'm getting old, I opted for the Tundra 1794 edition. It's like a big OL Buick inside. :eek:ldman:

Is it waterproof?

I love my Raptor! Traded my F-250 for it and it was an awesome truck inside and out... wouldn't trade my Raptor for anything... other than another Raptor! ;)

It is very water resistant. There are rubber seals all the way around to keep water out. I doubt you could drive for hours in a rainstorm without it getting a little moist in there though.

Mine is, I'm sure his is. There are drain rails along each side that lead to a tube on each side that is fed through the wall at the front of the bed and drains out. I get MINIMAL water at the corners of the tailgate when using high pressure wash, otherwise fine.

I'm digging this Tundra. It has more room inside than any truck I've ever seen. Only a 5 1/2 foot bed but I'll rarely use it for hauling stuff anyway.

The 5.5 bed is my only, minor gripe about the Raptor too, but the room in the back seat of mine (a SCREW) is enormous

I have a back flip on my Tundra Limited and it is a piece of sh!t.....it is not water tight, it's design is flimsy, it is the easiest one on the market to break into, it's annoying as hell to flip each section up by pulling a thin little wire and in the summer time when flipping it up you will almost always burn the sh!t out of your arm when touching the black panels which heat up to about 847 degrees in the Florida sun....stay away, it was the worse $1,100 I think I've ever spent
BTW nice choice of truck.....

IMG_2578.JPG I just bought a Truxedo. It's a cheap, "entry level", cover. The frame clamps to the sides and it has a couple of supports across the middle. It closes down the length with Velcro and rolls up tight against the back. It was around $325.

This is how I roll.

This image keeps on giving. Notice it is parked in a handicapped spot. In an office park or strip mall. Maybe they're tailgating before visiting the dentist? They put chocks on the rear tires to keep it from rolling away (water is very heavy, certainly eclipsing the load capacity of that truck). Best of all, the skinny dude is about to drop his cell phone into the water destroying it and probably electrocuting the crap out of his buddies who may survive the encounter, but will be sitting in an improvised hot tub full of pee and :kiffin:.

This is NOT redneck engineering. Real rednecks are smarter than this. These guys are morons.

Alex.

I, like some others, have an 08 Tundra crewmax and love it. I have a bak-flip on mine as well and its excellent. You can put things in there and lock the tail gate and walk away knowing they are safe. The very rear of the bed will get a little damp during heavy rain but Ive had the truck since 09 and the bak-flip was on it when I bought it. And whenever you want to use the bed for actual loads, just flip the thing end over end a few times and you're done. Bak-flips are the shizzzzzle...
