Whelp.... there ya go, boyz and girlz. Strickland is happy with us having a support staff only slightly bigger than Vandy, but is really worried about the tiddlywinks and horseshoe team.
If you haven't read that bio on Saban it's a great read. He certainly realizes that football is the meal ticket and fountain that feeds the rest of Bama's sports programs. He claimed on his way from Miami to Bama that he was the greatest recruiter in college sports. Our AD is used to bargain basement shopping, coming from Starkville, where bargain hunting was necessary. For some reason, they just don't get it.

That was a great book, and great read on Saban. I enjoy reading books on great leaders and, although he's our "enemy", he is the greatest college coach of my lifetime - and possibly of all-time (I was born in 1970, so I barely remember Bear Bryant).

I guess he didnt see the Arky game....
or either fsu game, or either vandy game, or the first bowl game, or the FAU game we needed OT to win. Hell, our offense looked like complete :kiffin: in this year's bowl game we won. Defense either scored outright or put the offense deep in Iowa territory a majority of the time.

At some point, if it is 5 or 6 games I some how missed, then it is not that UF was unprepared for a couple of games, but rather how good UF is or isn't.
A big part of the reason for those losses is because the offensive players looked clueless, another part was that they looked poorly coached, and the final part was that the play calls were retarded.

Arkansas and Michigan we are both emotionally and schematically not ready to play. FSU and Alabama (both years) poorly schemed and out talented. Tennessee (2016) out schemed in the second half, the play calling in the third quarter especially was garbage. LSU (2015) wasn't scheme or lack of emotion... just got beat by special teams (fake field goal).... also might have been Harris's best game as a Gator.

Do you really think we don't have enough talent to finish higher than 115th in offense? REALLY? You don't think the coaches, with a history of putting shyt offenses on the field, have ANYTHING to do with this? It's just a talent problem? Even with a transfer QB or freshman, you don't think we have more talent than some of the middle of the pack offenses like Old Dominion, Vandy, or Eastern Northern Whatever State?

I understand that you are ALL IN on the Butters' Sword Swallowing Bandwagon, but is there ANY chance at all you admit the OC and HC just might be the problem?

You've lost your damn mind.

Yep...Callaway was prepared when he fielded those punts inside the 5 yard line (plural)....or when Alabama blocked a punt in our 12th game of the season.....or when del rio didn't get pulled at Arkansas....etc....etc....etc...

How good UF is includes both players and coaches. Being unprepared implies, a team that is prepared better for other games. I do not see a team that is better prepared for some games than others. I see a team that is not very good on offense.

I personally think it is all the level of coaching including play calling and UF has plenty of offensive talent. I just do not see that UF has been inconsistent. Rather UF has been consisently bad in terms of play calling and player development on offense.

I see a team that, under 3 HCs and 38 OCs has not yet found/developed a QB. I see a team that lost its starting QB (a freshman and journeyman never-was) the last 2 years. I see a team that couldn't find a decent WR between Cooper & Callaway.

It looks like the WR position is better. It looks like the OL is coming into decent form.

But until a QB emerges and stays healthy, we are inviting Bama and F$U to fight in a phone booth. You can't scheme or prepare your way around that if you can't consistently execute and complete mid-range passes and make them respect a deep threat.

And how many support staff does it take to teach a returner what even I know - that you don't field a punt inside your own 10?

Nothing makes "CFB-kids" play more dynamically than knowing their HC, OC gives them a play-scheme advantage (HC Spurrier). There's no "win out the gate" fire in our HC nor OC.
Lack of that conveys no "on-the-ground" focus on the practiced-particulars that win. WRs jerk those hips when making a cut, jam your plant foot to up the speed out of the cut, get to the target spot at the right time (when the already fired ball arrives)... IDK that these type fundamentals are being expressed, looked for, expected during practice.??

Prove undoubtedly that "excellence" on the field is a thing of beauty ... not a maybe-kewl thingy. To shock Bama & FSU, at this point, we need to grab a young Vince Lombardi.

Spurrier had his teams ready to play. Rather than inconsistent, I would say McElwain often does not have his guys ready to play. So they often fail to convincingly beat teams they are clearly better than. Spurrier teams on the other hand just ate up teams like FAU rather than went to over time.

I never thought I would become such an old man, but boy I long for the days when UF suffered great criticism on board for only beating a solid non-bcs team by 28 points!

Del rio should have been pulled for sucking against north texas before the injury.

This is something I'll be looking at with a very critical eye this year. You're absolutely correct that our offense often looks unprepared. We have way too many receivers running the wrong routes. Backs failing to pick up a blitz on pass plays. Whiffed blocks by OLinemen. You name it, we screw it up, time after time. It's almost like we don't even practice sometimes. They need to get that crap fixed. We need precision. Those plays need to be burned into their heads until they're running them off instincts.

Del Rio should've never even sniffed Florida's roster in the first place. He is a prime example of how far Florida has fallen in terms of recruiting and overall image of the football program on a national level.
