Total bullshyt numbers. Bammer hides dozens. Even Ugly lies as is documented in the article.

"It is largely perceived in coaching circles that Alabama, not Notre Dame, has the largest staff. In the survey, Alabama is credited with a total staff size of 31. According to the survey, that would tie Missouri and Ole Miss for sixth in the SEC and tie for 28th nationally.

"The Crimson Tide are credited with just one strength and conditioning staff member. A quick check of Alabama's own website shows the program employs the NCAA maximum five strength coaches.

Ever looked at the Bammer sideline during a championship game or bowl? All those behind the scenes guys that players also call Coach XXX are there, usually wearing those white jumpsuits. Pay close attention next time and tell me how many you see. I usually see 100ish. At least as many as there are players.

What's crazy is that jawga lists 51 in its media guide
Yeah the real count at Trailerbammer was 50+ several years ago. Some estimates are 80. They hide the people, make them employees of other departments who just happen to spend all their time with the football team.

This 2012 ESPN article reported "There are 146 non-coaches who work in the university's athletic department."

"Each has his or her purpose in the grand scheme of things -- what Nussmeier called coach Nick Saban's "organizational structure.""

"The "system" is predicated on responsibilities. Each person knows his or her role and is accountable for seeing it through. While the games are being played on Saturdays, someone is cutting up game film for the next week's opponent, analyzing tendencies and strengths and weaknesses. Before assistant coaches ever lay eyes on some prospects, someone will have gathered film and packaged it into a highlight reel. Instead of having coaches work on responsibilities A through Z, the support staff is able to work ahead and cut down the to-do list, allowing coaches to focus on what's important."

"Since Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa, the amount of money paid to the support staff and administration has risen steadily. From 2009-11, the salaries and benefits paid to support staff have gone up 31.7 percent, an increase of $4,366,308, according to figures obtained by ESPN."

I remember a time when SOS was as deep in the heads of bama and aub fans as Saban is now in your heads. They had this call in show in the evenings for SEC football (back in the 90s) and those old boys ALL over the south wanted an offense just like the one we had down here in Gville. The envy for the SOS method was what Saban has now, Saban aint immortal and that pendulum is gonna swing back VERY soon,
England swings like a pendulum do

Yeah, I read that too and the number has risen since then, but some of those are video techs etc.

I just know that Kiffen said he didnt know the names of everyone and that it was also said that the GAs have staffs of dozens of GAs. The number damn sure isnt twenty or whatever was listed in that article.

Any doubt that Stricklin doesn't give a damn about us hiring help for Mullinz?

Old story from years ago, and Stricklin's comment about keeping up with large support staffs was......... wait for it...... baseball.

"The majority of our students on campuses who are student-athletes don't get full scholarships. Why is that never been an issue?" Stricklin asked. "We have baseball players and softball players and soccer players and a lot of track athletes who come on our campuses and they're having to take out student loans to be athletes on our campus, even if they're on scholarship because they're not on a full scholarship, [unlike the majority of football and men's basketball players].

"I don't think that's right."

Stricklin's former school, Mississippi State, has an SEC-low 16 support staff members. But he said he is "comfortable" with what the Gators are doing in football - the cash cow of every SEC athletic department.

Schools chase Alabama’s elite support staff edge while NCAA mulls rule change

That's what we have in our front office, boys. A guy who is only worried about baseball.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze has 19 support staff members and would like to see all SEC schools with roughly equal numbers. Freeze's reasoning stems less from losses suffered on the field than on the recruiting trail.

"There's only so many things you can do to get a team ready for a game, or break down another team," he said. "If you get too many people with too many ideas that would be too confusing for me and our coordinators. I don't know that it's a great competitive advantage, except for recruiting. Now, you have more recruits being bombarded by more staff.

"Don't see it on the field. Do see it in recruiting."
