Surgery went through with only a couple of complications. Got nauseous from fluid build up and had to have a tube inserted. Couple of days and a little better than 2 liters pumped off, I'm starting to round into form. Had solid food this morning with thus far no complications. Have been good to walk and utilize the little breathing apparatus. Chance maybe to go home tomorrow. Maybe then I can finally get some sleep! I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. They make a difference. One phenomenon that I might have mentioned previously...Tallahassee Memorial has to employ over 300 traveling nurses to meet staff demands. A city this size with multiple nursing programs should have them waiting in line for jobs :dunno:...but then again, it is Tallahassee!

Glad you are back and healing. Home is where we all want to be. A nursing shortage in a Univ town is odd. But like you said, it is Tallacrappy with a gazillion STATE jobs which probably pay like a nursing job but MUCH easier.

Glad you're on the mend C2. And yes, you can't get any sleep in a hospital with them always coming in checking something or another waking you up. It's funny you have to wait till you get home to finally get some rest.

Felt good to sleep in my own bed last night, even if I did have to get up about half a dozen times. Bowels seem to be a little tighter today with just a little discomfort. Couldn't help but think about @'78 while I was in stir (come to think of it, haven't heard a lot from him lately). Tallahassee Memorial employs a lot of traveling nurses to alleviate staff shortages as I previously mentioned and the overwhelming majority are Philipino or Thai. All seem to be excellent in their job skills, level of concern, attentiveness, etc. I just couldn't shake this mental image of '78 having to explain a multitude of requested sponge baths to the insurance adjuster!

Thanks all for the well wishes! After a little issue with BP meds, I'm feeling like I've turned a little corner. Planning to go back to work tomorrow, half days at first, and looking forward to it. Getting a little stir crazy at home, having caught up on all the Gunsmoke reruns. Little pain I felt inside has subsided. Sill have what looks like three bullet holes and a knife wound that need a little tending, but they are closing and have no pain. Regaining energy is the big thing now. It will be slow, but after sufficient time, I feel like I'll get back to where I was pre-op, which was feeling as well as I had in a couple of years.

One great thing is that the Doc tells me I can resume a regular diet without fear of Diverticulitis. I have found thus far that with eighteen inches of my descending colon gone, the digestive process happens a little quicker but can be hindered by overeating if not careful. Otherwise, this part of living is great to return to and the old routine is welcome.

With a little luck and attention to better health, I plan to be around to pull for the Orange and Blue for a good while yet. I'm still looking, like many, for the pendulum to swing where football is concerned and when that happens, it'll be good tonic for us all.

Did the doc let you bring home the old piece of sausage casing for a keepsake?

Damn! I knew those breakfast links I had the morning they released me from the hospital tasted familiar!

Seriously though, I grew up eating "chitlins" (chitterlings), but after seeing a picture of my colon that was removed and going through the various operations, I don't think I'll be inclined to dine on this southern delicacy anymore!

Great that you are doing well, I saw some Gunsmoke movies recently that you might enjoy.

He is no longer a law man but still can shoot and fight.

Thanks Chief! I saw one of the movies where he was a rancher with a daughter. Even had a couple of the old Gunsmoke regulars in there...Morgan Woodward, who was a frequent guest star and played a variety of roles, and Pat Hingle, who replaced Milburn Stone ("Doc") for a season while he recuperated from health issues I believe. I enjoyed seeing it. Next to the Duke, Matt Dillon was my man. We never missed Gunsmoke on Monday nights when I was growing up and were very sad when it finished its run. Glad it is on TVland and now INSP on Saturday mornings (black and whites with Chester/Dennis Weaver from the late '50's and '60's).

I recorded the two they used to welcome the re-runs, they both had his daughter in them. I did not watch much when they were on so they will be new to me.

I look forward to your review of Gator games, they always educate and entertain at the same time.

My sister-in-law had pretty much the same thing done. It took her some time, several months, but now she gets around better and has more energy than she's had in years. Good luck, heck we need your analysis, it's not the same without you.

You folks are the best! I appreciate all the good wishes, as always. I've been back to work for a couple of weeks doing the half days. Starting to feel a little better. Energy is a little slow to return, but it is a good reminder that I've had some pretty significant surgery and I'm 57 to boot! Tonight I venture out for the first time to go to our season-opening scrimmage with Lowndes Co. Hope to see our recent RB recruit, Dameon Pierce, have a good night. Lowndes should be pretty sporty this year, so we should get our oil checked!
