I have been slowly putting together a race sim rig when money allows. I now want to upgrade from my tv with its input lag and low refresh rate to a monitor that will be dedicated to the sim rig. I don't know much about monitors so wondering if you have any suggestions. Also I'm thinking about going with a curved monitor. Since I'm on an Xbox one and consoles don't support a triple screen setup I think the curved monitor might give a little bit of that same wrap around immersion. Any insight on curved monitors would also be appreciated.

LG came out with these 21:9 monitors. I only did a quick search, so I'm not sure if Samsung and the like have done the same. I think the LG ones are fairly new at that ratio.

I've seen those and they look amazing, but as far as I know the Xbox one doesn't support ultrawide monitors.
good point...that I don't know. With 4k tvs being so cheap, perhaps you can still find a high end 1080 tv with a higher refresh rate...may or may not find it in curved though.

From what I've seen just perusing reddit, it could vary by game on those UW monitors. I don't know for sure to be honest.

I will be using it for Assetto Corsa and project cars 2. I'll have to check about the UW game compatibility. That would be amazing if UW could be an option.

I know it would have no problem displaying on the screen, it would just either be stretched or would have the blocks on the sides to make it 16:9 within the monitor. However, some have suggested that some games work with it. But I neither have an xbox nor an UW screen, so take it for what it's worth

We have three of them... I've had mine for 3 years or so and love it. I just use mine as a second display off of my laptop and it's awesome. Each of my boys have one and they do the same, but it has multiple hdmi ports so they game off it too (both from PC and console). I'm sure there is better technology now, but I love the width of this screen for what I do. They stock them at Best Buy.

UPDATE: All three of mine are 29" which were the biggest at the time and it still looks huge as I type this... I can only imagine what the 34" or 38" would be like.
