Thats like expecting usf to beat uf everu year. Huge difference between ou and osu

No it's not! They are in the same conference. OSU gets tons of money from Tboone Pickens. They are a power 5 team that has been nationally ranked. A OkState fan would not agree with you at all

He's at Ok state dude, not necessarily a powerhouse with a history. He consistently pumps out top offenses and has his team in the top 15-20 teams with little talent.

Gimme Gundy, at least we will be entertained!

Yet he can't get that program over the top or recruit consistently at a high level despite having some success and lots of money from Pickens.

Not been ranked? They're top 10 right now. They have a bcs win. They've had top 10 finishes. He averages 10 wins a year and a top 10 offense every year. And he does it after texas Oklahoma and anm have cherry picked that recruiting ground. He's a good coach.

Saying Gundy under performs at ok state is retarded. I can understand if you don't like the style of play but he's been successful. That's ridiculous atx.

Dj seems like a good guy and good recruiter. And in any other situation would be definitely someone to consider. But we need a coach from the offensive side of the ball.

I understand your sentiment but we have an offensive guru now and here we are looking for a replacement. Truth be told, we don't just need offense. We need offense, defense, special teams, coaching, recruiting, energy, organization, etc. We need a team! We need a headcoach who can lead that team. A good headcoach surrounds himself with capable coordinators/staff regardless of his area of expertise. I'll be watching how Durkin and his team fare this season.

Yes you have some good points and I can't disagree with most of it. One thing that stands put is we don't have an offensive guru. Mac and nuss have been pretty vanilla and average their entire career . And teams are way more apt to hire oc 's than dc's.

I said that they have been nationally ranked! Slow down and read. My point is that OKlahoma State is not USF as stated before, but a true power 5 team. I think Gundy has done a good job there. I just don't see him as a championship coach. He is 2-10 vs OU and it isn't like OU is always amazing... they have their average years.

If our goal is to just be better than what we have had with the last two then the bar is low. My goal is national prominence again. I don't see Gundy as that guy.

Probably give up 35 points a game. He's a great offensive coach and he'd win a lot of games here, but I don't think he'd ever field a good enough defense to win a championship.
Not necessarily... He has no talent at Oksu and the state of Oklahoma is not appealing to oos recruits... And they have no tradition like OU. The big 12 has a style of play that favors offenses and makes it very hard to have a good defense. Look at how Bob Stoops defenses were so dominant at UF, but at OU it was usually soft. Even muschamps defenses at UT were pretty soft and statistically mediocre aside from his first season there. And both UT and OU pull way more talent than oksu does.

I feel Gundy would be a great recruiter at UF.. All he has to do is hire a good DC. If he can win at oksu he would kill it here.

He has done a thousand times better job at oksu than les miles did, and les did a great job at lsu. Again.. It's Oklahoma state... Check their record out before Gundy. It's a very hard program to win at.

Your post is a classic example of Gundy being a victim of his own success.

K, point taken. I understand he hasn't had the most balanced teams and hasn't beaten ou enough. But I don't think he has the resources to do so. But I totally get it, some of you guys aren't as enamored with that style of play like i am.

I looked at Gudy's defenses the last 10 years at their national rank for pts/game. His average national ranking the last 10 years is 63.3. The average ranking the last 5 years is 66.8. He's only had 2 defenses rank in the top 50 and only 1 defense in the top 25 (19th). He also had his worst defense at 100th three years ago.

I agree that he will have better defenses if he comes to UF, but I don't think they'll be good enough to win championships. That said, he'd score a lot of points and will win around 10 games a year so at least Florida football would be entertaining again. And if he does at least win the East fairly regularly, then he may catch a break in Atlanta once or twice. It'll be nice to play in that game and not get blown out.

Fire Mac and Nuss. Make Randy interim HC. Make Seidel OC. If team improves they both keep their job...

No one one the planet has EVER considered Jim Butterteef an offensive guru. That was always a lie spread by pumpers. His qbs were game managers who handed off well and were happy enough to punt. There is nothing guru about have a giant 'roided up linemen (like 10 future nflers) and 3 roided up backs and running it up the middle alot.

There is a bigger problem, the kind of kids we landed. Three and outers just waiting for draft day and lured by playing time, or south florida thugs who just want to get high.

We just dont have champions.

He sure as hell wasn't hired and paid millions for his defensive prowess. A good coach has to be more than an expert on one side of the ball. Able to assemble a good competent recruiting staff for one.
