So far in this thread we've determined that

-Gundy won't leave Osu and isn't really that good anyway.
-We're too late for Fuente.
-We'll eventually be too late for Kelly.
-Fleck doesn't get law's approval (plus the transgender wife may not go over well in the south).
-Durkin is too unproven.
-OU replaced our guy Stoops(UF is basically the stripper that Bob went a little loo far with on his bachelor night 20 years ago, and despite the current wife and kids, we're still his "true love") with a new up and comer Riley, further sticking it to us.
-Quinn has become our Gruden.
-And Miles is unemployed alarmingly making him an option.

Not to mention it's all moot because of a cheap athletic department that's still paying on their 84 month loan for the previous bad choices.

Why, again, am I supposed to be "grinning"?

Forgot

Scott Frost is too unproven
Franklin is a rapist
Sumlin is damaged goods

I heart this thread. Sofla and Dougie showing what GSMB is all about.

Was the hottest name amongst coordinators...the coach in waiting for Texas. That's why I prefer not to go that route again. You don't know what you're getting if they've never been a HC before.
It's always a crapshoot.

I'd stay away from DCs (or HCs who can't call their own plays) bc it is too damn hard to keep a good OC even if you manage to find one. Beyond that, it's a crap shoot. Plenty of coaches who won many games in smaller conferences have failed miserably too. I'd look first for the right fit and ensure that Fooley with his Big Lots mentality and Nick Saban hardon isn't anywhere near the process.

Well looking at the list of names presented in this thread there are some names we can rule out on the first cut. We want a proven head coach (preferably P5), with a history of winning, improving at each stop as a coordinator or HC, 10-15 years left in the tank and preferably an offensive pedigree.
Sure if we can get Spurrier/Stoops/Saban/Meyer/Kelly/Knute Rockne that would be great.
BTW remember what a hot commodity Tom Herman was? Let's see how that pans out.

Charlie Strong - Failed on the big stage once already
Mike Gundy - 11 years at OSU, 150-50. scores points.
Justin Fuentes - Unimpressive record at Memphis (26-23) and has been at Va Tech one year. Definitely unproven.
Ken Niumatalo - Navy? Flexbone? I don't think so.
Larry Fedora - 10 years as a HC, 5 years P5, not a terrible record, 54 years old, UF pedigree, former OC. Passes first cut.
Kyle Wittingham - 14 years at Utah, west coast guy, DC, 57 years old is a little too old, nothing really stands out about him
Mike Leach - 30-34 at Washington. Has only one 10 win season in 16 seasons as a HC
Gary Patterson - 57 yo, 150-54 in 16 years at TCU, DC. Meh
P.J. Fleck - Young, 30-22 at W. Mich, unproven
D.J. Durkin - One year at Maryland, 6-7, DC. No
Scott Frost - Check back in 5-10 years

So that leaves the short list:
Gundy
Fedora

Chip Kelly...and if he says no just keep upping the offer until he can't like Bama did to get Saban

Has Chip Kelly ever scored 20 points vs an SEC team? Triple reverse flim flam offense doesnt work against real defenses. Watching every team toss Demps and Rainey to the ground kine ragdolls should have taught you already.

If you try to run the ball at SEC defenses, you will score 17 points just like every other running team.

It doesnt matter, he isnt coming. It would take him three years just to get some smurfs and lightwieght 250-265 lb OL to run another sideways offense. The hurryup however would give us so many more chances to feature our primary offensive weapon, the punter.

You said this same amazing BS through TWO National Titles during the Meyer era, where we DOMINATED SEC defenses. You kicked and screamed the entire time.

How many games has Kelly coached against SEC teams? And how many of those games did he have a roster full of Florida talent?

I'm sure I'll get killed for this (especially from Law Donkey) but I'm kinda feeling this Holgerson Air Raid right now.

Bash away Donk!
