Not as dramatic as the article makes it out, but Alex puts a helmet on Cook:

WATCH: Ex-Florida LB Alex Anzalone hammers RB Dalvin Cook, flagged for penalty

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/f...alone-hammers-rb-dalvin-cook-flagged-penalty/

Former Florida linebacker and current New Orleans Saints defender Alex Anzalone delivered a crushing blow to Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook in his debut on Monday Night Football.

Cook, of course, played for Florida State — the Gators’ biggest rival.

Anzalone was flagged with a personal foul penalty on the head-to-head contact play after undoubtedly “ringing the bell” of his former rival.

The rookie, Anzalone, played linebacker for Florida from 2013 to 2016. He saw the field every year. Anzalone ranked third on the team with 53 total tackles last season before being picked up by the Saints.

Check out this hit:

Cook saw him coming and dropped it! I'll donate a few bucks to pay the fine.

Hope he can finally stay healthy in the NFL. He sure couldn't while he was here.

Some of these calls are just horsecrap. How do you make the determination that it was Alex that led with his head when it was Cook that actually dropped his head. They watched it in slo-mo and still missed it.

I hate Dalvin Cook, but Anzalone clearly led with his head, not Cook. Cook was still trying to catch the pass when he got lit up. Nice hit, but pretty awful form.

Exactly.... they call him defenseless but if he was still trying to make the catch, shouldn't Alex also be credited for a pass breakup? It may have been the correct call by definition... but it was a crap call. If cook doesn't drop that ball and lower his head to reach for it, the head contact wouldn't have happened.

Anzalone was leading with the crown of his helmet. Doesn't get more textbook than that.

I agree bad form, but look frame by frame. When Cook first touches the ball Anzalone is 5 yards away. By all rights he should be a runner at that point. Anzalone goes low (he's practically on his knees) and Cook juggles the ball, going down with his head trying to catch it.That tackle is completely fine if he's a runner, which he should have been.

In addition...Gator on clown, never should be a penalty.

You're telling me a running back coming up the middle meeting a linebacker isn't going to have helmet to helmet contact? I could dig up about a billion examples where no penalty is called.

Nope, we will have a 47 post argument about this where neither of us will back down, turning the posts into personal insults, question each other's intelligence and heritage, and in the end somehow make it about race, dammit! Get on board, man!
