I live in the Casselberry/Winter Springs area. No damage to our home, lost power for maybe 30 seconds 4-5 times, tons of debris in the yard. The pool enclosure is intact but the pool was filled with tiny bits of oak & the filter looked like it had been dipped in mud. Work (just east of downtown Orlando) had a huge oak come down.

All in all very fortunate!

the trip home from the Holiday Inn Express in St Augustine Florida to Vero Beach Florida when i stopped at a publx in Sebastian and the transmission went on the car. Had to call AAA and also have friends come get us to take us home. Thankfully the house looks undamaged a lot of leaves and branches and Palms down but the house is good thank God. Hoping to God that this is at for this hurricane season and Hurricane Jose does not Venture near the state of Florida. Hope everyone else has gotten home safely or is getting home safely.

Why couldn't you fix the transmission? You stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for phucks sake!

Did you see the huge tree that fell on Robinson just west of Mills? I can't believe our office didn't have any damage and never lost power....although were still without internet there.
Our house in Belle Isle had 1 Oak down but it fell on the park next doors fence. The pool enclosure lost 2 knee brace supports but not even one of the screen panels was blown out .

The transmission was good for 99% of the trip home and then 10 minutes from home it went at the Publix parking lot. The line burst or something. The only good thing that happened close to home and not up in Titusville or Daytona Beach. I hope it's a simple fix but nothing ever seems to be. Publix didn't have any transmission fluid. If the transmission goes or the transmission fluid line breaks you're just of luck and that seems to be what happened to us.

If you live in South Florida, you probably have no power but you have gas. If you live in North Florida, you probably have power but no gas.

Our day began in Gainesville and circled back because of the gas situation -- zero to be had because none entering the port in Jax until 2 p.m. -- combined with the thousands and thousands and thousands of evacuees who all decided about the same time to hop on I-75 and head home. A clusterphuck. Our poor planning didn't help. We left with a half tank and got to Ocala when I pulled off to get gas. Hahahahahaha, what was I thinking? So we ventured into town. A half-mile line to the Marathon station at SR 40 and 441. I got cute and figured out a way to cut the line time down in half, only to find out from the Marion County Sheriff when we were about to make a left into the station that they had run out FOUR CARS ago.

With an eighth of a tank left, I decided to head back to G'ville rather than continue south and risk running out of gas. A flipping mile from my friend's, we came upon a Sunoco that had just opened and had gas. Short line.

We heeded Google Maps and avoided the mess of cars running out of gas on I-75 and took the back roads home starting in Williston. Gotta remind you Gators who have forgotten, the drive from Hogtown to Williston is gorgeous. Brought back some great old memories as a student of when I would take the motorcycle out that way after class to blow off steam.

Official time from Gainesville to Tarpon Springs (including to Ocala and back): seven hours. I could have driven to Columbia, SC. But we're home and that's all that counts.

I'm keeping your offer in the hip pocket for the next storm, probably in a week. But are you ready for her three kids? They're good kids. Then again, I know you're great with kids based on the FB picks. Okay, we're on.

Survived in our rural home in an undisclosed location N of Gainesville, with no damage.

Lost power Sunday Morning at 10AM.....yes, when the eye had just crossed the Keys. FPL guy showed up and told us he'd fix it after the storm and left. It's still out.

17 year old generator is keeping the freezer cold.....

After 55 hours without, power came back on at 2:28 this morn. Have no generator so lived like Williamsburg colonials during that stretch. Believe a tornado caused most of damage since you can draw a straight line for a quarter mile thru severely damaged bamboo, oak and forested area. Thankfully the house is intact but for a dozen or so soffit panels. Let the recovery clean up begin. Go Gators.

59 hours so far with no power. At least it is 62 here this morning and the whole house is cooling off nicely. Very spotty cell service... it will come in waves. I know when it is up because 20 text messages will flood in. We had DSL after the storm for a few hours with the modem on the generator... but eventually lost phone line too. The weirdest part is not knowing what day of the week it is or being able to get any kind of news.

Mother nature is a bvtch. In all the destruction and chaos I hope all will have a nice laugh at this.

Rick Scott's epic sign language interpreter....looks like he was randomly placed in the video by a heck of a video editor or he was faking it all. I don't know if the National Sign Language Interpreter Association has an annual competition for best interpreter because it seems they keep getting more dramatic and hilarious.

LMAO. We saw this guy on television when this was happening. My wife and I were laughing hysterically. He wasn't on after this episode so I wonder if he was replaced.
