Currently no power and spotty cell service. I was in an area that got hit the hardest. The house survived but my trees in my backyard got uprooted. Many here are without electric and water (if they have a well system). I have city water so I have water. The important part is we are all ok, extremely hot but ok...

Clean up done, both at my place and the mother in law's. She lives on the primary drainage canal for Broward County and we feared her house had been flooded. Cheers all around when we pulled up yesterday to find the salt water made it to her yard, but not into the house.

Then when we got back home, I screwed up and broke a Man Law. I failed to not belittle use of a chainsaw. My wife saw the glean in my eye when I started cutting limbs off a felled tree in our backyard - such joy! So when she figured out it was having fun, she insisted on an immediate in service on use. And then she didn't want to give the saw up for the rest of the project. :sadnanner:

Power came back on last night. Took a drive through the neighborhood today. Never seen so many 3 foot thick oak trees snapped off like twigs. 20170913_145730.jpg

We started clean up today. Still no power. Inside the house it is 90 degrees. I've been dripping sweat for days now. I smell like an unwashed nole or vol. :barfaway:
My immediate estimate is this hurricane could cost me 250-300k in damages with the insurance paying 100k at most. We are already battling. I'm using dollar amounts to show how much damage was done. It's bad. I'm glad you guys are safe. Go gators!!!

Haven't been down your road yet but I can imagine it's bad. Grace is a mess.

I heard all the docks along there are gone. And insurance doesn't usually cover them. We have friends that lost theirs and they estimated it was $50k.

Glad you are safe. Good luck the the insurance adjusters. Work em silly!

That’s awful. What won’t insurance cover?

It's the dock, which is concrete. Talking to my neighbors, they said very few of them have been able to get the insurance company to pay for damages to a dock. For example, I may have protection from wind damages, so they'll argue it was debris which may not be covered under my policy. We are playing word games.

You need flood insurance.

yeah not sure if I-75 will close or not. There were a ton of rumors and they had cones out and deputies ready to shut down. They actually sent out a text saying it was closed and quickly retracted. They may luck out and keep it open. Suwannee River is expected to crest twice in the coming days. I-75 is the further east of closures (potential closures), so it may hang on.

Counties that would be affected by an I75 closure/detour are preparing by deploying traffic cones/signs and additional personnel. I'd bet it happens.....

84 hours without power.

My family went to a friend's house in town who NEVER lost power and had hot showers and did all the laundry. I stopped by at the end of the day and they all had made a nice home cooked meal and I got a warm shower. That was nice.

SECO now has an online interactive workzone map... and our area is officially on a crew this morning.

Did you see the huge tree that fell on Robinson just west of Mills? I can't believe our office didn't have any damage and never lost power....although were still without internet there.
Our house in Belle Isle had 1 Oak down but it fell on the park next doors fence. The pool enclosure lost 2 knee brace supports but not even one of the screen panels was blown out .

My office is on a Robinson just west of Mills & a big chunk of that tree is in our east side parking lot. Another big branch knocked 20+ holes in the roof of the building we lease out. Already patched & repair of one spot where a big limb came all the way through is scheduled.

I need to redo our enclosure panels but none of our blew out either. There is so much tree debris and damage, yet I bet in a few weeks most of life will be back to normal except where the flooding hit.

FPL now estimates my power will be restored 9/17 at 1145pm.

Hope so.

Still counting my blessings though. At least I have no damage.
