Recruits seemed to have a great time. They loved the Swamp and the locker room vibe. Future is bright.Recruits reactions to the UT game:
OL William Barnes, “That was definitely the greatest experience I’ve ever had. I was down there in the end zone when Tyrie caught that pass. … We were all just dancing and jumping around. It was just the greatest feeling I’ve ever felt in a while. That’s definitely something that opened my eyes up about Florida. The fans are just fantastic people.”

yeah lets not get ahead of ourselves. one game does not a season or recruiting class make. The future will be bright when we are winning games consistently and inking top 5 classesRecruits seemed to have a great time. They loved the Swamp and the locker room vibe. Future is bright.

I see this team in a mold of 2006 to a SMALL degree. We aren't as good by any measure, but it feels like they are starting to gel and the adversity is pulling together not apart. I think we do better than most think, but not sure where we end up. LSU, USCe, A&M, and UGA are all winnable games. I think FSU is winnable if their Freshman QB isn't good. Not saying we win them all, but no reason to write us off in them either.
Recruits could see losses as opportunity if we don't get blown out.
I agree, it just feels like they are coming together as a team. We have winnable games and we would feel a little (not a lot better) about the offense if not for two fumbles. Scarlett will give a shot in the arm if he in fact plays again. We don't have a back that can really pick up a blitz so having our best runner back would be clutch.Don't jump the gun, my friend. It's been two games and there are HUGE issues.
We are playing two games vs. Kentucky and Vandy. We "should" win both games, but these teams will not roll over for us. We need to see how this team performs. I think we'll know a lot more before October arrives. Now, disclaimer, if we win like the last few Vandy' games (13-7 or 9-7) then - no, the answer is the same as the last few years - the offense stinks and has not "improved", contrary to what Butters has told us all. We need to put together sustained drives, execute, and put up 24-30+ offensive points vs. these two SEC bottom feeders (who are much improved). There's no reason we should win either of these games in the 27-10, 31-17 range. But with this staff the score will likely be 17-13 (win or loss).
What is Josh Griffis (the Clay High 2020 Commit) ranked?
Could we add 6 Jachai Polites to the class? Four to further cement the DE rotation and we can make a MLB out of one and a TE out of the other.(from a poster on gatorcountry):
I trust everyone has made it through Irma. I have been distracted to say the least but here goes.
I know this is centered on recruiting but I can’t help but remind all that Toney was a 3*. Wow the guy has star written all over him. I would also include Davis in that regardless of the fumble. I don’t know if you recall but Neal Anderson once fumbled through the end zone at Auburn. It happens to the best.
The UT game could not have played out better for the recruits attending the game. They saw a great atmosphere and felt an excitement that will be hard for anyone else to duplicate.
You have seen the comments by recruits at the game so I will bypass those.
Patrick Surtain: I have never, ever thought him possible for this class. Still a long shot IMO but he certainly felt the spirit of Gator Nation and the family atmosphere Mac and company are creating.
William Barnes: How can NC ever compare to what he experienced Saturday?
Richard Jibunor: 4 * Lb’er that I wrote off long ago. Loved the atmosphere and everything else he experienced. Why it may be significant is his connection with Channing Tindall. Tindall has delayed his announcement until he takes his OV’s. He wants to be at UF for the LSU game. These two would like to play together.
Radley Hiles: the Nebraska commit will in fact take officials to UF, Texas, and Notre Dame. Losing to Northern Illinois has consequences.
Anthony Scwartz: everything he does and says hollers UF. I’m starting to wonder if he is being held off by the staff. That Hall and Pope are still expressing interest may have something to do with it-I'm not sure.
Tre Hill: I had Hill as an after though in regards to O-line recruiting. Maybe not so much. The 300#+ big guy left UF with a lot to think about. Hard to imagine this guy as a backup plan for anyone.
Dorian Gerald: In a previous candy gram I mentioned a Juco Lineman. I’m not sure what to make of this, Gerald is/was committed to UT but came to the game as a UF recruit. He has never seemed as a firm commit to UT and SC has felt they could flip him. Seriously after Saturday, do you really want to play for Muschamp? Well, let’s just say to watch this one closely. Gerald is ranked the #1 SSDE by 247 as a JUCO guy.
Josh Griffis: first 2020 recruit to pull the trigger. I don’t have contacts everywhere but I do In Clay. I hear this kid is special. 6’4 200+ already. A bit thin but that is ok right now. He is a solid commit to build the 2020 class upon.
Ge’Mon Eaford: the 4* 2019 OLB has UF soaring to the top for his services. His quote after the visit, “-“Wow, I’m speechless. Go Gators”. UF is now a player for this guy who 247 had 50/50 fsu/ Michagan.
Therapy for the soul: I visited Tiger droppings and Vol nation. I know, but I sacrifice for you guys. No one is happy in Tiger territory and most in Vol land are ready to run Butch out on a rail. How does this affect UF, start with Chase. I doubt the kid is foaming at the mouth to join that debacle. UT, well you see they may start losing recruits as the fan base is very negative at this point and I doubt it improves much. UT will lose 5 games minimal IMO. The recruits I see being effected from a UF standpoint is Surtain, Gerald and the #1 ranked OG for 2019. Kardell Thomas. The 320 # junior is committed to lsu. He did attend FNL and has a great relationship with UF OL coach Brad Davis. Just saying, keep an eye on LSU and Thomas.
This weeks final words: those on the swamp gas boards who think this staff cannot recruit are ignorant. Add this class to the previous class and the 2019 class and UF will have as much talent as just about anyone. I read the stuff about Shannon and Nuss and some of it I agree with. However, I do think that this staff will improve the talent level. If Nuss can’t get it done then Mac will need to take care of that. Right now, I’m giving him the benefit of bringing Franks along as he can handle it. We must see improvement as the season goes and in that we can all agree. However let’s see what the current staff can do with what they have before we ruin two potentially program altering classes.
Predictions: UF will add some great talent and finish top 5. The will have to make some tough decisions before this is over.
Fields: fsu/Uga IMO. Frome playing this year helps UGA. DF red shirting due to injury hurts the noles IMO. I had fsu with a lead prior to DF going down for the year.
UM: I'm hearing some things regarding some of their recruits, some of which is UF related. Stay tuned.
He's probably not ranked yet. I don't think there's 2020 rankings out this early.
But don't worry, our coaches are much better at evaluating talent than any other coaching staff in the country. Now that they've had 3 years to "build relationships" they are at the top of their game. Go ahead and add 1, possibly 2 stars to any commit we have right now. Some of our high-4 star kids are really 6-star recruits, just that the recruiting services don't go that high.
