Have enjoyed some of the music threads here in the lounge. Was at my mother's house over the storm and going through some of my old belongings she had put away, including my 8 Track carrying case. Hadn't seen it in many years, but was glad to see there were still several tapes in there. One in particular was Red Tape by Atlanta Rhythm Section. "Shanghai'd" was a local party song when I was still running the roads...

Always wanted to see these guys in concert, but never got the chance. Anybody here see them or remember their music? Read somewhere that they were a studio band that got bigger from local beginnings around the ATL area. "Doraville" was another favorite...

Some good Southern Rock, I guess, is the best way to describe them. Champagne Jam might have been their biggest hit (and album, as well), but I always like Spooky...

Lead guitarist was pretty good. Wondering if any of them are still around. Good stuff.

I remember them well, saw them live a couple of times. They were made up of guys from the Candymen (Roy Orbison's band) and the Classics IV another really good Jacksonville band. I would probably characterise them as more southern jazz/rock with their saxophone. They played a concert in Jacksonville with the Who. Spooky was a song originally cut by the Classics IV. Doraville always got the crowd rocking, my favorite by them was a little more smokey called Imaginary Lovers (Nav would like this song).

Good info, Coot. Never really knew where they all came from. Imaginary Lover was a good one, and I have no doubt that Nav has it looping on his musical device! :)

This was another good one...

Man, that's awesome. I wish I still had the old 45's from my youth. Leroy Brown was a big one when I was in Jr. High. It had a cuss word in it, so technically, you could sing it without reprise. Doraville is and will be a good one. We took a Senior trip just before I graduated from HS and our first stop was in Doraville to tour the old GM plant that used to be there. They were manufacturing Monte Carlo's that day. Last meaningful thing we did as a Senior class besides graduate. Doraville always reminds me of that time in my life and the friends I had, many of whom I haven't seen since.
