I really like Frost. What is somewhat disconcerting however, is that Slevin's avatar of him makes him look like the adult version of banjo boy in Deliverance!

Gary Sharp, a radio host out of Omaha said today that Frost is pretty much a lock to go to UF, and that Strictlin is working super fast to get this deal in place, and that Frost is extremely interested in coaching the Gators. Sharp went on to say that he knows a few prominent boosters that live in Ocala that told him all this, TIFWIW. One booster even said he'd "bet his house" that Frost is coaching the Gators next season.

Sharp also said UF reached out to Bob Stoops to kinda feel him out (in case the Frost deal goes south), but Bobby is quite happy in retirement.

There isn't an HC out there without risks of falling short. So, with any "up & comer" you have to see explanations of "why" this one excells :

1) Nowhere has Frost failed at coaching young men.
2) Players praise his coaching style, none denigrate,.
3) His coaching is inspiring involved on-the-field of practice.
4) During games, Frost thoughtfully paces the sidelines consulting his sheet of 'tried and trued' color coded schematricks. (This connectedness reminds me of Spurrier.)
5) In all public speaking endeavors, he superiorly represents his college and his players and coaches.
6) He overtly takes responsibility for results. He fully knows "the buck (starts &) stops here.
7) He's in athletic physical shape = dynamic performance of his duties. (an HC rarety)
8) Frost leads by examples and that leaves no confusion in young players' minds (or coaches).
9) Frost is "best friend" with the process, not buddy buddy with players.
10) He has picked a staff that keeps up with him, their CEO.

These are rare traits vitally operating in any one HC.
I couldn't help realizing that these are all opposites of who we just fired and all who need firing.
IMHO, in 2018, Frost will continue his upward rise wherever he coaches. I'd like it to be here.

But you left out all the great football minds he's played under and coached with. Both offensive and defensive. He's played both sides of the ball! This dude understands football.

"UAA and everyone in ADs office hates him." How do you KNOW this? Have you taken a poll? Did you communicate regularly with UAA personnel back in 05-08? With Foley gone, is everyone in the AD's office still there (well, admin assistants and such are probably still there, they don't come and go with the AD) How do we know that if he was unpopular with those working in UAA back then, he hasn't changed since? I do know that in '05, as the new OC, he came to speak to our Savannah Gator Club, and was very personable.

I had a contact inside the Meyer staff (not a coach), and I can attest the Mullen was not well liked. Whether or not everyone hated him is unknown, but he was not well liked. Also, when Muschamp came on board there was noticeable friction among the coaching staff.

I knew those & I did leave them out .... one included Belichik riding Frost as a DB in Patriotland.
I've read the list and it is Blue Ribbon plus he seems to soak up the learning = imagine how much fun he'll have talking with Spurrier and Spurrier with him -- no telling what powerful liaisons they'd have.

Does Nebraska holding out on firing Riley hurt their chances at all with Frost? I think it's got to bother him that everyone is saying it's us and them yet they haven't fired Riley yet. I feel really good about our chances he recently said he likes the recruiting in this state because he can be home every night but recruit the best players in the country. Places like Nebraska he will not be able to have that luxury he will be staying over night places. I think he ends up at UF

Hear, hear!, Dr. Roger! Your most excellent post ever! This coach checks every single box mentioned by Stricklin in his presser about Butter's firing. I also hope he is coaching here soon and that we have beaten Nebraska to the punch! Make no mistake though, they are after him hard in spite of having Riley in only his 3rd season. They fired their A.D. Eichorst who hired Mike Riley right after their loss to Northern Illinois a few weeks ago and hired Bill Moos who praises Scott Frost exuberantly every time he is asked about him even though Mike Riley is still employed....
