NFL and college football are two completely different games.

They are? Sure they are different, but there are massive similarities in playing the game, not so much in how you obtain talent or need to deal with it.

I see some successful college coaches go to the NFL and either fail or succeed.

I never thought there was any chance of Kelly coming, although when Ox made a sticky thread claiming insider info that he was excluded from consideration, that did increase the odds of him being the guy significantly :D
Well, if he were the guy initially, he could have been signed two weeks ago.

I also believe he wasnt the primary target at first. Price for Frost was probably too high for a guy with only one season under his belt.

I don't blame Frost for not coming here..The nearly total sh!tstorm we are right now, his brand being high right now, ours a little tarnished. He can afford to wait.
Every brand that fires its coach and need to hire a new one is a shytstorm.

The UCF brand is an empty stadium in some little league conference. If he wants too much, I dont blame him. There are six teams at least interested and he is probably rhe primary target of each. One team (aTm) is also a top 10 job. Another is his alma mater. It's a sellers market for him. He will get paid probably whatever number he asks.

If true? I'm fine with it as long as there is some reassurance that this is not a 2 to 3 Year get me back into the NFL thing for Chip.

What he had at Oregon was amazing.

You still have to negotiate a contract and they aren't going to announce anything until that is signed

I always figured you were joking when you said Chip will be announced Monday...:scratchchin:

It’s almost like some of you know nothing about the NFL. No team will ever hire Chip Kelly in the NFL again. And he went 10-6 each of his first two years, not exactly terrible.

I've always kinda thought that Kelly would not happen so I've just dismissed it. If true I would totally be on board with it.

not to be "Debbie Downer" but did Chip have any real college success without Scott Frost as his O/C? Honest question, not sarcasm. My concern is that we get a guy who was "the face" of the program but not "the brains" of the program. Like when Mullen left and Addazio came in. Urban was still the HC but the program really was hitting on all cylinders like it was with Mullen. More important than the HC is the OC/DC as far as I am concerned. I would prefer Frost over Kelly simply because I have seen him be successful @ both HC/OC and know that he can be both the brains and the face of the program. Again, not poo-pooing a Kelly hire. Just really wonder what we would be getting. Make sense??

Kelly may be one of those coaches who can get it done in College but struggle (as he did) in the NFL. Not that he was that bad, maybe just not a good fit.

When Chip Kelly was HC at Oregon Frost was the WR coach, not the OC.

We will know if this is true early next week. No reason to delay an announcement.
