Players want Shannon?
I haven't seen a modicum of that. The only player that referenced it was M. Thompson. And since it's his last year here, who cares what this soft, always fumbling, POS JUCO player has to say?
BTW... If the 3* whisperer wasn't our coach no way this bum makes it to Florida.
That is a soft man. Should have moved him to Hback or TE or something. Of course, he doesn't block any better than he runs.Dude is 240Ib and yet he plays like a 180Ib speedback.
Surprised it took this long for Thompson to throw the white devil under the bus. I think Shannon is a first class guy but this team has gotten worse under him, and that's a helluva accomplishment. Serious question, why is it always only the black athletes that talk about skin color? I've never once heard a athlete of any other race say a coach should be hired because of his ethnicity.
Whis is it that only black athletes CAN talk about skin color?
Thompson "acted stupidly" with that comment.

"This is going out on a limb -- a long one -- but I want to say, just as an analogy, like how (George) Bush was in office and then (Barack) Obama got elected, a lot of things that he did wrong, they tried to put on Obama.
"I think that’s the same kind of situation that’s going on. That’s my personal opinion. He’s a great coach. He knows what he’s doing for sure. He has us a lot more loose around this building and in practice. I really like him as a coach and as a man. Hopefully his future is good with whatever he’s going to do."
Because as white people, it's our duty to shut up and allow every non white person to elaborate on how racist we are, because of power or something, and how our skin is the root cause of every ill in a minorities life. Anything to the contrary and you're labeled a racist, which for people who care about what others think, is a huge burden to bare.Surprised it took this long for Thompson to throw the white devil under the bus. Shannon is out recruiting for us as he sees the dark at the end of the tunnel.
I just disagree with his premise in general about the Bush/Obama analogy to start with. Secondly, if Shannon, being as we now know because he is the interim coach (VP) thought that much of what Mac was doing was driving the bus off the cliff, he should have gotten off the back seat of the bus and came up front and made his concerns known to the driver (Mac). Maybe he did but I get the feeling that he probably didn't and the reason I feel that way is based on his decisions as a HBC. First of all, starting Zaire after watching his first performance for the second time was highly questionable and being down to Missouri the way we were and kicking FG's.....yeah...c'mon....does that sound like a coach that's gonna go down the hall, close the HBC's door and walk over and say, coach I have concerns with this team and I'd like to discuss them with you? So.....he was part to the administration, not a newly elected president. The president of the team was impeached and sent packing and the VP took over. Does it look that much different? No! As a matter of fact the team's performance with O'bam....I mean..Shannon taking over was the worst of the year IMO. So Mr. Thompson, if you and your teammates wanted Mr Shannon to have a shot at the HBC job, you have a damn strange way of showing it.Did you read the article? He said nothing of race, but rather of who caused problems and who followed and got blamed for them:
Nothing about race. All about one guy being responsible for a f'd up situation, and his successor trying his best to address it.
That said, I can read between the lines a lot on this one. Yes, there is the race card to be played, always, where he may prefer a coach of his race. Though I think it's more likely sour grapes over the previous coach relegating Thompson to 3rd string, and the current coach actually calling plays for Thompson (perhaps he forgets Davis is injured, and is giving credit for his playing time to coaching decision rather than talent earning it). It's also very apparent that Shannon relates to the kids better. As others have noted in the thread, Shannon is a player's coach, and as such will be better liked. Face it, who did Mac relate to? At all?
Nothing about race at all in Thompson's statement. But ultimately, he and Shannon are out of here, so what does it really matter what he thinks?
