Mullen would be a solid hire. Not an every year competitor though imo.
Norvell would probably make UF fan's butts pucker the most out of this list.
Leach I don't know much about.
Gruden I think I've heard things saying he doesn't want to coach college. I could be wrong.
Taggart got some love around here when Mac first got fired. That's cooled some recently with the Kelly talk though. Probably another Mullen level hire imo.

Pretty spot on.
Leach would score a lot of points and his press conferences would be epic for sure. WS has a new AD coming on board and rumor is he and Leach don't see eye to eye. I think Leach is there if Tenn wants him.
Gruden would crush recruiting IMO. I don't buy all the nonsense that he couldn't. The kids he would be recruiting are 17 and 18 years old. For the last 8 years, since they were 9-10 years old, John Gruden is all they have ever known as Mr Monday night football. I don't think Gruden will be the next coach but you're fooling yourself to think he doesn't have a huge offer and the possibility is far greater than many think.
I'd put my money on Mullen to get out of the west and Miss St and into one of the top facilities in the country and resources he's never seen to win. I wouldn't do backflips with the Mullen hire but I think he would develop players and give us a chance to get to Atlanta.

You think Dan Mullen would give up +$4mm and an expectation of just 8 wins a year for UT?

I doubt it.

Of course he would. He would cut off his penis to get out of that hellhole.

He’s had chances already, but turned them down. I’m not so sure he’s really ready to give up the gravy train for less & added stress/expectations. He’s the King of Starkvegas.

Would this finally mean Ray is officially not coming back...at least as Ray
who knows? He may never get out of jail.

I think one of the big advantages to Slevin is that a lot of the old board folks who don't like abrasive people @oxrageous or me would feel more comfotable or "back at home" like the old board. Plus it checks of some diversity boxes depending how far along in his transition surgery he is.

Hmmmm.......Interesting. If it was anyone but Brice or Hyams, I wouldn't even begin to believe it. Both are legit

Maybe he does end up in Knoxville but there are several reasons I can't fathom that. He's never been a college head coach and what little time he did spend in that genre was decades ago. It's not like he's Spurrier...the alumnus returning to be the rescuing hero. It doesn't seem that the UT connection is particularly strong.

He has a cushy, well paying job that allows him to be a celebrity without any pressure. If he did hanker to return to coaching there are several NFL teams that would pay him well just to coach....not recruit and speak to booster clubs. And, by the way, aside from his Super Bowl win with another coach's roster, he doesn't have the most glowing head coach resume (95--81).

But I suppose stranger things have happened.
