I am starting to get the impression that no one on this site wants or will accept Lane Kiffin as out next head coach....

Keep in mind Stricklin said the next head coach will be announced when he walks to the podium at a formal press conference, and not any sooner.

Based on how the Mac negotiations and hiring went down, he has intentionally been much more secretive throughout the process than Foley was.

With that in mind, why is it so hard to believe that the deal was officially signed last night, but Chip is utilizing other means to get to Gainesville for a press conference.

If they know they are being tracked to NH, and Chip hops on the plane headed back to Gainesville, there is no longer any doubt whether or not he is the next head coach.

I’ll be tuned in at 11:15AM expecting Stricklin and Kelly to walk out together for an announcement.
This is certainly possible, but if the deal is signed, then why feed the media with false stories? There doesn't seem to be a clear incentive for throwing the public off, if the deal has been signed. If it hasn't, then maintaining some level of plausible deniability is the right move.

We will all see soon.

I just don't see any reason the President is on the plane if this isn't a done deal.

Was there a video of the interview with Stricklin when he got off the plane? If so, I missed it. Can it be reposted?

It's just my take. And why would it be "disappointing" if a head coach in demand angled for more money? No one here would do it?

You guys take things too personal. It's not like Chip Kelly is a Gator and has a statue outside the stadium. He has every right to try and get as much money as possible.

Oh I get that he isn't Spurrier coming back to his alma mater. I just liked the reports that he was using his leverage looking for more money for his staff and getting guarantees of facility improvements, and making his money on incentives and back end of the contract.

One reason why I think Kelly may have had a last-minute change of heart and frustrated the crap out of our people. The timeline of UCLA contact is important to knowing.

I would read ZERO into Stricklin's body language or smile getting off the plane or in an interview. He would be a terrible AD if he got off the plane moping around with a big frown on his face. You have to portray confidence and conviction in that position and not look like you just failed. If you do Gatorchatter will be all over your ass and he would soon be fired

Assuming they signed the deal, they couldn’t just come back to town and say they signed it before a press conference. In other words, if the deal was signed, they would have done nothing different than what they did last night.

Did we ever find out what precipitated the players’ mass tweets yesterday? Player meeting called? Just speculation en masse? Something happened there that caused the tweets.
