A lot of people seem to be thinking Tennessee is hiring a new coach by tomorrow. Lets say for the sake of argument that is true then who do you think it will be.

I think it ends up being Greg Schiano if it really is being announced this soon.

That’s what I think as well. Which is laughable.

Duke's head coach would be my 2nd pick on who it might be.

Whoever it is it's not going to be a home run hire. The names mentioned are Schiano, Matt Campbell, and Mullen. Norvell out of Memphis would create the most excitement but he is not one of the three finalists that are being mentioned most prominently.

Nothing really exciting here. We are in the same boat so to speak. The two big home run hires are Kelly and Frost. After that it's a big blah.

So...
1. UCLA hired a coach
2. Nebraska hired a coach
3. Tennessee on the verge of hiring a coach
We were the first to have an opening now it seems we might be last to make a hire. SS should be shown the door immediately if this happens.

Nebraska hired a coach??? Not that I heard, I could be wrong.

And no you don't fire someone for that unless you are well mentally questionable.

Astounding. Depressing. My hopes for Scott Stricklin erasing the Foley Stench are fading. I hope he proves me wrong with a great hire. If he delivers, he will have my praise. If not.... buh bye.

The length of time it takes to hire a coach is not an issue for Stricklin. The issue for Stricklin is who he gets and how successful they are. Another issue is what he told Prof. Fuchs before the trip to see Kelly.

That would be crazy if that happened at that price. Heck I don't even think Gruden would have enough fire left to be a good head coach in college.
He's never really coached in college. That sounds like a Tee Martin coach in waiting thing.

Unless we have definitive proof that Stricklin botched the hire after the fact, I cannot blame him for how this plays out.

1. So far we have lost out on one coach that simply selected the job that was the best fit for him.
2. I am not aware of any other misses yet so i will save my angry comments until I have a reason

If we miss out, it will be because of the overall state of the program right now and that can be blamed on only one person and his name is Jeremy. I guess these coaching candidates just don't seem to get too excited about how good our volleyball and gymnastics programs are.

This is a quote in the Tennessee article but I believe it applies completely to our program as well. This apology should be broadcast on the Gator Network with Jeremy alone at the microphone with a one way ticket to New Hampshire in his hand.

All these people are owed a huge apology. Not a “sorry we were curb-stomped by Vanderbilt / FSU / Mizzou / Georgia / Michigan” apology, but a “sorry we let this happen to our program” apology, and that must come from the Tennessee athletic department, administration, chancellor, and board of regents. The caretakers of a football tradition that was a source of pride to the entire state of Tennessee couldn’t have destroyed UT’s proud legacy any more thoroughly if they’d set out to deliberately do so.
