I dunno man, it's not our choice lol. I'm just assuming he wanted familiar faces. He's making better choices than Mac did as far as I can tell.

We gonna be Cowbellin!!!!

As far as our staff, Seider is the only one worthy of staying. Im not sure about Davis as a "maybe" type second.

Do we really expect them to be that much better though? Sure they get their QB back, but look at who they're going to lose:

Auden Tate - Jr., don't see him staying
Jacques Patrick - Jr., any decent RB that can declare, should declare
Ryan Izzo - RS Jr., probably stays, but outside shot he leaves
Derrick Nnadi - Sr, he was good
Josh Sweat - Jr., he's probably gone
all 3 starting LB's are Sr's
Derwin James - RS SO, he's gone
Trey Marshall - Sr

That's up to 10 starters that could be gone very easily. Their OL sucked to begin with and they'll 7 Sr's next year, so it'll probably be even more trouble in 2019. Their WR corp outside of Tate is weak. So that leaves their QB, Akers, Izzo (if he returns), and likely another weak OL. It also seems like they'll be fairly inexperienced on the defensive side of the ball up the middle. So I see what you are saying, but to call it close to guaranteed is giving them credit that I don't think they deserve just yet.

I don't see how you will be able to keep Skipper on. Great recruiter but he did nothing with the LB's. I agree on Seider and think Davis is worth a shot. It probably is beneficial to have two working the OL with this system.

Pretty disappointing staff hires so far.

You could tell both Muschamp and Mac were going down in flames when you saw their staff hires, getting a similar feeling here.

Outside of Corey Bell, I think Mac upgraded the assistants, but he did it by attrition and not cutting dead weight, as you said. Of course Bell is still better than the original Callahan.

I'd say being the winningest coach at MSU since Allyn McKeen in the 30s and 40s is impressive. His coordinators were a part of that. There hasn't been a coach with a winning record at MSU since the 50s. I think people on this board are grossly undervaluing the job he did at MSU. Maybe he fails at UF. But to call the results at MSU "mediocre" is dumba$$ery at its finest.

You don’t like Rumph?

He’s got to have people he trusts to coach well and recruit at the pace he demands. He got rid of clear misfits/problems immediately. I’m not surprised some are staying on to help through the transition and maybe he’s evaluating a few.

I note that on the official page only Grantham, Gonzales & Hevesy are listed. Not sure if that means anything but it doesn’t look like any of the holdovers are finalized.

We need a great DB coach/recruiter.

Possibly Pat Surtain from American Heritage...they play in the state championship game this weekend and after that is when i've read we're going for him.

You can't blame Skip for our LBs - No talent there. He did very well coaching up the RBs before Seider.

Florida: Mississippi State assistant AD for football operations Jon Clark will join Dan Mullen in Gainesville in a similar capacity, a source tells FootballScoop.
