Gus was never going to Arky. He did turn a couple huge wins into a lot of job security and a nice raise.

Just a month ago it was thought he was on the AUB hot seat......
He had to win either the Georgia or Alabama games. He won them both. Not sure what happened to Auburn in the SECCG.

I can't blame him for milking every penny he could out of Auburn. They're treated him like a second rate coach for years now.

They had to choose between several more years of mediocrity with Gus as coach, or chaos by searching for a coach like everyone else. They chose the former. Either way, Bama fans are happy.

What happened against Georgia? Georgia played like Georgia. Alabama and Georgia played terribly and Auburn played above their heads. They were not about to give another one to Auburn like that. Georgia whipped the dog crap out of them.

He will be fired in the next 3 years. He finds ways to lose big games.

I think the schedule ending up hurting Auburn. Having to play Bama the week before the SECCG meant they had to play high level opponents in 3 of their last 4 weeks. UGA got to cruise against Georgia Tech in the week before the rematch. They looked like the fresher team on Saturday. Auburn showed some wear and tear, including a less than healthy K Johnson.

After his 1st year where everything went their way, he’s been about a 4-5 loss coach. Adding Jimbo probably makes the West a little more tougher. He’ll probably continue to be the 4 loss coach he’s been

In days gone by, news of a coach on the hot seat only became public when it was from highly reliable sources, double-checked. Nowadays, who hell knows where it came from -- no second source required. Internet babble weaves its false way into the fabric of truth.??

I wish he had bailed for Arky, just to stick it to Bama’s little brother.
