I'm too dumb to figure this out, but I do have a question.

Why would a representative of Chip Kelly call UF on Nov. 1 to say he was interested, only to have Kelly turn down UF three weeks later over something he should have known all too well on Nov. 1, that coaching here amounted to being in a fish bowl?

Chip must plan on being a dud at UCLA. If he's wrong, he'll be back to being in a fish bowl.

Apparently to leak his availability. He knew it would get out and he could use it to leverage another job. all jobs in the SEC are "fishbowls". I don't believe he intended to come to Florida or any other SEC school.

Apparently the main reason he contacted us was to leak his availability.. From that point on he was just playing us to attract attention. I don't believe he ever intended to sign with Florida or any other SEC team as all "fishbowls".

Yes, the blatant full-on, 'we got played' -is plausible. Led up there, everyone on the plane ride, full boat to get played.
Who can we blame for that?

I think what you're saying is we were played. I feel played for thinking at the time we weren't.

Not saying we weren't duped. But had he done the same to any other school they probably would have fallen into the trap too.
I personnaly never felt comfortable about Kelly, an am glad we didn't land him.

Why not just wait and see how the hire pans out before you start calling out SS on this or that.
Because what I'm calling stricklin out on had nothing to do with whether the hire pans out or not.

Well, it is my belief that at level, such full house meetings are the public manifestation of done deals. I am more likely to believe (hope) we did not go hat in hand w/the pres. for a 'maybe'. So, back to being 'played' at that point as well. Actually, that is the only possible scenario that will escape my critique.

Your first mistake is believing anything Dooley writes other than what he had for dinner and what’s on his iPod.

This is all horse poo. If SS was so concerned about hurting his alma mater, then why in God’s name did he leave the head athletic position at his alma mater to willingly come to Florida last year? He wants to be the best AD at the best place possible. He made the best choice for UF. Pointless article by a worthless “journalist”.
Let's hope.

If Dooley made it up, it just means one more bad journalist/ media/ spinner.

If ss doesn't have the stomach for the job, then the rest of or athletic department may end up where football is.

Dooleys story and five dollars will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Someone from Florida is is playing Dooley to spin this to make the search smell as sweet as possible.
The bottom line is Dan's the Man , how he got there is a moot point. Go Gators!

Yeah luckily we have some other silly head coaching search is going on that kind of swept all this end of the closet for us. he did royally screw up this search even more badly than Foley did his first.

And yet how he's viewed will be determined by the wins and losses of his boy Cousin Eddie. Much like tjat Dwag Muschump being forced down our throats by Foley, however there's a serious risk to this. When you hire somebody that's disliked by the fanbase if things don't go well, it could end up costing Strickland his job.

Funny how Dooley's spin threw stricklin under the bus.

But that's my point, your basis for calling out SS (the article) is not based on any type of fact, purely innuendo and speculation. So why even bother unless you have some type of agenda to try an spin?

I readily admit that I hope it's Dooley's spin rather than strick's tummy feeling queasy. No agenda.

Just pointing out that it is one or the other. Dooley pumping or strick's tummy.

Just seems strange to me. If Dooley was pumping up the AD, he shouldn't throw him under the bus so violently.

You’re giving Dooley too much credit for being able to understand the jibberish he typed up while eating a few dozen wings.

You could see his keyboard once in the background of a pic his posted. It was absolutely covered with dried up BBQ sauce and other assorted condiments and it's difficult to see how it even functioned.

If ss doesn't have the stomach for the job, then the rest of or athletic department may end up where football is.

On the Dooley side:

Guy has proven historically to be full of sht, and none of it worth a damn. Lost the point in reading anything he writes long ago, and for God sake's don't ever listen to his podcasts, it'll only encourage him. Anything he spouts is built on a foundation of last night's pizza and this morning's beer.

-------------------

On the SS side:

and you fail to do it due to a queasiness (his word, not mine) in your stomach over something personal, you have failed at your job. Absolute failure. Not negligence. Willful failure to perform an obligation that he agreed to perform. Total and absolute breach of any contract that he may have. Total breach of all fiduciary duties owed to UF as agent and employee. Totally unprofessional and definitely grounds for immediate termination.

You are taking waaaaaayyy too much from Dooley's writings rather than your own eyes and the reality that is. You question if SS is up to the job because a worthless 'journalist' , nay, 'columnist' has said the AD got queasy going after his #1 target? Reality asks who did SS get? He's doing the job, regardless of how queasy, or even giddy (if he had bad feelings hidden for MSU), or whatever he might feel about it - he did exactly what you are questioning if he could do. Use your eyes, man. Who did SS hire for the job?

I said from the first that this is a bash Dooley or bash ss thread. I really do hope it's Dooley.

Just seems odd that in attempting to spin in the best light for ss he made him look like a milquetoast.
