Florida State owns Florida in football and basketball,,, very sad...

I saw the graphic they put up where F$U has beaten us in football, women's basketball (we suck), soccer (F$U was good this year), and something else while we have only beaten them in volleyball (no mention of baseball?). But yeah, we are owned as of late.

Losses in December are great teachable moments to hopefully prevent these type of performances in February.

LOVE seeing all the COMPLAINERS come out of the woodwork when we lose. They were NOWHERE to be found when we CRUSHED Stanford and beat Gonzaga....

Love your enthusiasm, as always, but it's misplaced. There wasn't a lot to complain about when we crushed Stanford and Gonzaga - the team played well, recovered from any mistakes, and found a way to dominate and win.

In this game, there is a LOT that our guys (and coach) did wrong. Plenty to complain about, and very little to find solace in. Even those of us who LOVE the team, and even the pumpers among us (myself included) simply are dumbfounded at how badly this team showed last night.

Yes VERY disappointing showing. We had no answers anywhere and we couldn't buy a bucket like we did vs Stanford/Gonzaga. Its only ONE game in December so like someone else said, its a teachable moment that we have to be better. Let's see how this team progresses towards the end of the year. I have a feeling we are going to look like a different team come March...

In some sports.

Gator Softball is 5-1 and Baseball is 7-2 against FSU in the last 3 years.

And here lies the problem with how you view this. It's not one game in December. It's the typical Mike White Gators in adversity games. Had it not been Hew Hampshire, that should have been a lose. We went back to old habits. We have no defense. Egbunu isn't going to be the cure all. He'll play some but when he isn't, Hayes will come in and stink it up.

We've got a lot of work to be done and moving to #5 didn't help us at all.

"the typical Mike White Gators in adversity games" - you mean the Mike White team who last year lost some games early, figured it out, and went to the ELITE 8. STILL early in the season so what you look like NOW may not be how you look LATER on in the season.

I like Mike White. I think he’s a good dude and I’ll give him credit for developing our players physically and their skill set. They are noticeably bigger, stronger and have improved their shooting etc. But White’s refusal to run any sort of offense is maddening. I know it’s spacing is important. But all we do is stand in the corners, let the ball handler drive and either throw up a wild shot or kick out for 3. That’s great when you’re hot and hitting 50% from 3...sure, throw up 40 shots from behind the line. But I was telling a friend, the first night we’re cold, we’re going to get handled by a weaker team. When we’re having an off game the coach has to create better shots. The most advanced thing we run is a ball screen. No action away from the ball. No screens away from the ball. What’s weird is White is actually pretty good with his inbounds plays. I wish he would mix it up some and get more movement away from the ball and run some offense instead of having to watch our guys just sit in the corners waiting for the kick out.

There is a big difference between this year and last year. Last year we could rely on our D to stifle teams, and you could see the top notch level of D from the beginning. The level of D this year is not at that level. Can they still figure it out? Sure, but you could hear White talking about it from day 1 of practice and see it. This team will face more teams like FSU. Long and athletic and play very good D. What will this team do? Crack under pressure or rise to the occasion?

I am sick of losing to FSU, especially in basketball.

Rough night last night. FSU's length killed us and we REALLY need someone to step up underneath the basket by the time March rolls around, whether it's Hayes, Gak, Stone, Stokes, or Eggy. "Soft" was the right word to use by White. They spent half their time on offense trying to draw fouls by flopping after contested shots instead of going for offensive rebounds. Quick turnaround to another game tomorrow and then we play Cincinnati, so I'm sure White will do his best to circle the wagons in a hurry.

Ballard wanted to play. 8 pts 9 reb..might get the nod over Egor Wednesday...who knowd
Egor has completely lost his shot. He's missing by feet not inches on most of his 3's. Bringing him in off the bench might be what he needs right now. Hayes has regressed, and Allen also. Other than Cheese (who had an off game but was still playing hard) this team has no leadership. We really got exposed in this game. They need to get back to work and find an identity fast or the L's are going to keep piling up.

I was at the game. This is exactly correct.

There was simply zero energy in the ODome in my opinion, especially for a rivalry game. Between the terrible shooting, stupid turnovers and horrible officiating, it seemed impossible for this team to get any flow.

To me, it seemed like every FSU shot went in and was an And1. Sickening. We had TWO fast break points in the whole GAME. We got out hustled.

I thought we'd come out differently in the second half but it was even worse it seemed. Flat. Lost on offense. No bounce. Cheese didn't have a FG. Horrible FT shooting. Just a garbage performance.

The sad thing is they went on like an 8 minute scoreless period in the first half. They were stuck at 14 for the better part of that half and we still couldn't mount a lead. It actually could have been worse and they were clearly the better team on the court for pretty much the whole game as much as it sucks to say.

He along with Allen and Hudson are rushing their shots and shooting off balance/ fading one direction or another. Need to shoot under control and shots will fall

I know I harp on coaching a little much.....but even White said he did a poor job last night and getting this team to play tough and reb and defend...........

Just like the man in your avatar. His shot was pure and looked the same every time.

I know. Part of it was that FSU's aggressive defense on the perimeter was very good, because they knew they had size to keep us from scoring in the paint. But you could see how rushed and awkward a lot of the 3's were, Egor (can't call him 3gor until he starts making them again) fading away, and Allen jumping forward instead of squaring and rising straight up like he used to. Shooting can be streaky but being able to win when the shots aren't falling is the key to being a great team and we're not there yet.

Giving up a 17 point lead to dook may have done some psych damage to these guys, but they need to snap out of it in a hurry.

If I knew that this was not me, I would think it was me LOL. This is spot on what I said about Mike last year. don;t get me wrong, I like Mike, and think he has gotten a big part figured out, which is for the most parts, his guys play very hard for him. Last year's team could not score easily, and I mentioned that the offense was stagnant as hell. no movement with purpose and no off the ball action. Well in the first 2 games this year they showed a 5 high motion offense at times, so I was happy to see that. then against UNH, they went back to the same high pick and roll and 3 guys standing around and then going one on one. I admit I saw very little of the Duke and FSU games (just too late), but I looked at the box score and found this. Against Duke, we took only 20- 3 pt. shots of a total of about 70 and should have won the game. Against FSU we took 25- 3 pt. shots of a total of 58 FG attempts. almost 50% of the shots were outside the arc and we got shellacked. Way too many. That 3 point shot is fools gold as I have said for years, and when you make them you look better than you are and when you miss it truly exposes your other weaknesses. I am not making any assumptions yet until I see more, but I have enjoyed reading the thread. I think that b/c this year's team can score more easily, that defensively they mentally let down b/c of human nature. But knowing Hamilton's style of play, i can only assume that we will struggle against physical teams who truly understand being physical with our guys at the arc.

It's early. Play like this in February and then it is a problem. I'm not ga ga over White like most are, not yet anyway, but give him a chance to fix the toughness problem.

My view is UF and particularly Mike White got owned last night. White needs to step up and put a basketball team on the court. He has plenty of depth to play two bigs and he might as well face it he can not play Koulechov at the 4 against good power conference teams. Even with Egbunu out UF has plenty of depth with in the front court to play two bigs. Stone of course is really a 3, but he has the size for the 4 that Koulechov does not have. A December rotation of Hayes for 25 minutes, Gak for 25 minutes, Stone for 25 minutes and Basset for 5 minutes would work nicely and if Bassett is playing ok, you can shave some minutes off the other three guys.

Otherwise UF can keep gettting out rebounded by 17 boards a game and give up offensive rebound on more than half the opponents missed shots.
