Everything I'm hearing points to Pruitt announcement tomorrow.
Rumor is that Pruitt deal hit a major snag regarding assistants. Fulmer was imposing his will with Tee Martin and John Chavis. Rumor is Pruitt fought back however they reached an agreement of some sorts on it. What exactly I don't know.
Oh please let this happen...

Yes, we absolutely want Tee Martin on that staff. He's such an embarrassment it would be great for him to ruin his reputation among his fan base and be run out of there on a rail.

What makes you so confident that Tee will be a disaster Ox?

I would be on board with Tee as OC. 75% of that sentiment would be for his recruiting ability I admit. I was not in favor of him as HC.
What recruiting ability?

I like you so I hate to see you suffer being a Vol. Even with our program in shambles, I feel like Alabama compared to you guys. I can't see UT being competitive for years, even decades, to come.

Switch allegiances, man.

He's such an awful OC they yanked his play calling abilities from him this year. He scored an 11 on the Wonderlic - he simply isn't terribly bright. Bringing him to UT is nothing more than nostalgia - there are dozens of better coordinators out there. Heck, check the high schools.

Do you believe Pruitt is an upgrade from Schiano? I think they are equal at best with Schiano having the advantage of head coaching experience with some success.

I can't disagree with the nostalgia surrounding Tee. Definitely a factor. As mentioned my support for him is primarily due to recruiting. I'm not here to defend Tee Martin but I will say that a lot of the issues at USC start with overblown hype surrounding Darnold.

I absolutely think Pruitt is an upgrade from Schiano. JMO. With the Sandusky stuff aside, Schiano has a terrible reputation for being controlling and abusive to players and staff. He did good things at Rutgers but bottom line he was a .500 coach.
A lot of coaching vacancies the past 30 days and I haven't heard Schiano's name mentioned other than Tenn. That tells me a lot.

One question I've been asking is if Pruitt is the guy. What is the timeline? Georgia hired Smart from Bama yet Smart stayed on staff thru Alabama's playoff run. This wont be an option for Pruitt. At least it shouldn't be with the early signing period.

If true, this has major disaster potential. The HC needs to hire his preferred assistants to have the best chance at a cohesive staff.

Forcing an OC and DC onto a HC increases the risk of division that includes the chance that someone runs to Daddy Fulmer if the big bad HC makes a decision he doesn’t agree with.

I’m no fan of fulmer, but I’m surprised he might go against basic Leadership 101 principles. Not to gloat, but I won’t cry about it.

If you want a defensive guy, look no further than the one on your staff, Bob Shoop. He once bragged about being the reason why Vandy beat Florida back in 2013.

Tennessee is like that smoking hot chick in high school that everyone liked but after graduating she gained 40 pounds and now sits around watching lifetime channel eating Cheetos wrapped in bologna.
It's a mess.

I agree with this 100% and I hope that is not how it was handled.

Shoop might be the worst DC in the history of organized sports. I seriously watched our DB's run from the ball carrier on more than one occasion.

Schiano is light years better than Pruitt as a HC.

How can you determine that a .500 coach is light years better than someone who has never been a head coach? Just curious.
He turned aorund on of the worst football programs in the country. He’s coached in the NFL. What’s Pruitt accomplished as a HC?
