Heard an observation on the radio this morning that sounds right: the early signing period has forced a lot the wackiness of the last few weeks’ coaching carousel.

Stricklin moved quickly to dump Mac and get on with it. He deserves some kudos for posting a solid score & getting into the clubhouse as conditions worsened.

Wow.....Pruitt's deal calling for around $4Million/year plus , but his Staff's salary pool is reportedly around $5 Million......making it the largest in school's history.

To me, the craziest thing about this entire UT saga has the FatPhil situation. You have a guy that is supposed to bleed UT orange and he is not in the background helping the current AD with the coaching search. Instead he is colluding in the background to undermine everything that your AD is doing. Then you fire your AD and hire this jackass that has been harming your school, more than helping it, all for his own personal gain. That my friends, says more about the state of the UT program than anything. It makes me happy to know that they have now guaranteed themselves another 6 years of misery, sitting at the bottom looking up at everyone else.

I may end up being wrong about that last sentence but I don't think I am.

Sorry, Salty. You have it wrong here. Fulmer was up for the AD job 9 months ago. But everyone close to the situation knows that he didn't collude or backstab the program for his personal gain. Fulmer doesn't need the job, as he is very well off financially. The problem was the in-fighting between two major donors inside the program. Haslem (owner of Pilot stores) was a major contributor....he wanted Fulmer fired 10 years ago and hasn't been behind Fulmer since. Another one ....Ergen (owner of Dish Network) was on the side of Fulmer ever since the hire of Currie. It all came to a head when Ergen said he would donate $100,000,000 to UT and still make up what Haslem would pull out. So, the powers that be, ......Beverly Davenport Chancellor of Athletics, said, ENOUGH! Time to bring back a name that fans believe in. ....Enter Phil Fulmer , especially after the debacle Currie put on. Even though Currie had respect from a lot of ADs across the country.......he was in over his head, not making a major hire in his career, and not using a coaching searching firm to help him. He fell FLAT on his face. Fulmer made a hire in 5 days with Pruitt that most fans, alumni, boosters respect .

Isn't this the guy that apparently fooled around with a booster's wife at fsu and was quietly told to leave after one season, then promptly followed it up with creating major infighting at UGA under Richt and was also rumored to have got caught banging another assistant coach's wife there resulting in a fight between coaches inside the facility?

Good times for Tennessee

As head coach does he get the pick of the assistant's wives?

So they hired a guy who wants to stay on at Bama through the playoff in order to help their cross divisional rival win another title?
Do I have that right?
They're mercenaries. Besides who would pass up a chance for playoff experience no matter what your role? God knows, he ain't gonna even get another whiff of the CFB playoff coaching at Tinerc.

@onlygators: Chris Rumph jumping from Florida to Tennessee, reportedly. That’s a huge loss for the #Gators in multiple ways.
