@ClowESPN: As reported by my colleague @ESPNRittenberg, Bob Shoop is joining Joe Moorhead as Mississippi State's defensive coordinator. Shoop has been the DC at Tennessee the last 2 years and was previously the DC at Penn State and Vanderbilt.

@CFTalk: Over 70 players sign petition urging Oregon to make Mario Cristobal head coach #collegefootball https://wp.me/p14QTT-1DMX

Players generally seem to prefer the "known" to the "unknown".

Did you see the quote from the local NBC reporter in Eugene that Oregon had actually offered that job to McElwain last year and they thought he was going to accept? He decided to stay in Gainesville at the last minute. Not sure how legitimate that might be but assume the guy has some real sources. Boy, imagine all the different scenarios in play if that had happened!

Tennessee: Jeremy Pruitt’s contract is a six-year deal with a $3.8 million salary, according to USA Today. If he is fired without cause, Pruitt would be owed 60 percent of his remaining salary through the contract, not subject to offset.

Oregon: Co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Mario Cristobal will be promoted to full-time head coach, accordingto NBC Sports Northwest and Yahoo Sports. A person with direct knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic's Chantel Jennings that a team meeting has been called for 1:30 p.m. PT. Cristobal was named interim head coach earlier this week when Willie Taggart left for Florida State, and players pushed for Cristobal to get the full-time job. He’s spent one year at Oregon and went 27-47 as FIU head coach from 2007-12.

Mississippi State: Former Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop will join the Mississippi State staff as defensive coordinator, a person with direct knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic’s Chris Vannini. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg first reported the news. Shoop spent the last two years at Tennessee and was previously the coordinator at Penn State and Vanderbilt. Though he and Joe Moorhead both worked at Penn State, they didn’t work there at the same time.

Right. Why on Earth would anyone choose to be his OC aside from money? He clearly meddles and hasn't had one last more than two years.

Some possible other reasons:

a) you have stock in a moving company
b) you love the smell of those produce boxes from Publix
c) you're on meth

It's also looking like Leavitt is going to stay with him. If that happens FSU is screwed

Any confirmation? He is one helluva coach and DC. If he did stay at Oregon that would not surprise me. He does not seem like a one year one place then move type of guy. Great person. Great coach.

Tennessee: Troy director of operations / high school relations Todd Watson has accepted a position at Tennessee, a person with direct knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic’s Chris Vannini. Watson spent three years at Troy and has a background as an Alabama high school coach, working with Jeremy Pruitt at Hoover High School in 2004.
