"The dead period is the most restrictive. No in-person contact is allowed, even if a prospect makes a visit to the college campus. Written and electronic communications are still permitted.

And yet, prospects still do decide to commit to schools in late December and early January, often because they've considered all their options, taken all their visits, and are ready to pull the trigger."

Starts Sunday at midnight...

"The quiet period tightens things a bit more, preventing any off-campus contact or viewing. Visits to the college's campus and written or electronic communications are still permitted. Coaches often try to have prospects visit campus unofficially during this time in the spring and early summer, so that they can become familiar with campus."

Today, 12/17/17, only.

I'll tell you what I've been more letdown than I thought I'd be so far. Very underwhelmed by his recruiting and coaching hires. What's 6 more years of being terrible im starting to get used to it

We need some good news around here to keep some of you from offing yourselves. Let’s hope it comes in the form of commitments in the coming days.

We just lost WR Tyquan Thornton. That's Copeland, Chase & Thornton along with Corral. The most bothersome thing to me about losing the WRs is that I thought this would be the only year Mullen could fool marquee WRs into coming to play here. After they see the offense, no WR will want to play in it. It's just not going to get you ready for the NFL as a WR. It doesn't feature WRs at all unless you're an unbelievable talent like Percy that can run out of the backfield on sweeps and option. Maybe we still get Copeland. Idk. It's definitely been a depressing start to Mullen's time here. It's not looking good. Kelly, Frost, Strong, Kiffen...name a coach...they could all probably have done a better job keeping the recruiting class together or at least created some splash coming in here. I know I've seen Mullen in pictures with recruits as the new HC. But his performance as a recruiter has me wondering what the hell he's really doing.

We have to show the ability to complete a foward pass before the stud WR want to come here. Doubt they are thrilled about getting to block
Unfortunately, Mullinz offense is well known. It will be 80% runs and the primary job of WRs will be to block on edge runs, run reverse ornjets, maybe get two to three catches a game, maybe.

It is what it is. We hired a guy with a known history and an offense that isnt attractive to most WRs, and many RBs and QBs.

But that's something we are going to have to trade off in order to get some wins. I'll take what I can get, but specifically, I just want a team that competes. If that means we don't attract the best receivers, but we attract the best dual threat QB's, running backs, tight ends and offensive linemen then so be it. Let's see if he gets Emory Jones. If he does, let's see what he can get around him.

You use what you have, MSST isnt exactly the place where 5 star QBs and WRs go so Dan was just using the strengths of his talent. He has shown when he had good WRs that he will open up the passing game. Oh no, a Coach who plays to his teams strengths..... If you think we arent going to throw the ball to Cleveland,Toney and Gamble this season you are mistaken.

Mullen's offense is run first but it also spreads the ball around which should be appealing to WRs. Mullen likes to get the ball to all play makers in space, they just have to do something with it. His offense takes a number of deep shots every game and since we're run first, those shots are usually open with the extra safety in the box.

If you watch any Mississippi State tape over the last 9 years, his offense really does make teams defend the whole width and length of the field. If you have skill then his offense is going to find a way to get the ball in your hands and expect you to make something happen, that's what any recruit should hope for.

They do have to learn how to block and that's usually something highly rated WRs don't like to do. That can also be the type of small stuff can make or break you as an NFL prospect.

Chip Kelly is on video saying we expect our WRs to block and if they dont we wont throw them the ball. Noone complained about Mullens offense when he was here years ago and we were hoisting Heismans and NC Trophies.

Did you see the Butters N Nuss offense? It was historically bad, yet those WR's you just mentioned committed to it.

Wrong. In fact weekly "what's wrong with the Gators offense" segments by analysts were common every uear except 2007 and 2008.

Imo these kids don't know their ass from a hole in the ground right now. They are young kids that are afraid of change, so a coaching change is giving them cold feet

There’s a reason nobody else wanted Mullen for a decade, our master of panic AD just simply couldn’t get anybody better.
