That’s certainly possible, but Matt Elam was a bit of a prima donna prior to NSD and didn’t really cause headaches after he signed (that I can remember).

I’ve known Matt (and his brother Abe) since he was in grade school. He even played for me in basketball at one time. He had an extremely tough upbringing with a lot of tragedy in his life. He went back forth with us and FSU during his recruitment...even donning an FSU uniform for our local paper. But he was a young kid being pulled hard in various directions. He’s been in a few dust ups over the years but he’s also doing good things with kids in the community with his brothers foundation. I can tell you this...through it all...he has always been very respectful. I have never once ran into to him that he didn’t address me as sir. He is a yes sir, no sir young man. Much credit to his mother who guided him through some mine fields.

Good insight! It’s easy for us (I include myself) to criticize these players for being immature attention seekers without considering there’s probably a lot more going on. I’m wondering if the same can be said for Copeland. I hope we get him back and he’s able to put the drama behind him.

Shut off the ****fest for a while.
The differemce is Creyer had a great defense and special teams.

However, Creyer did not bring his entire staff. He brought in DJ from Stanford, Doc Holliday from NC State or WVU (I forget), Matteson from NFL or Meatchikin, Daz from Purdue, Drayton from Cowbell, and that USF ex HC to coach DL at least. Thats just off the top of my head. There were probably more but Im not going to do more research.
This is what scares me about Mullen.

Meyer has the leadership approach that I prefer - bring in experts and expect them to do their jobs as experts. The CEOs job is to make sure they play nice together and demand results.

Mullens style appears to be about loyalty. Fine. He better be damn smart. And he better pay them above market if he wants to keep them (assuming they win).

Don't doubt that you will"beotch" , but hard to see how you can be the first.

In fact, as I reflect, I have to wonder if you don't find it a little unsettling that others are getting there ahead of you.

I think it's safe to say Mullen hit the ground running. Kaboom.

I don't ever recall a new Florida coach having this much impact this soon. The guy's putting in an enormous amount of energy.

I bet Hughes has a lot of stories about the laziness and ineptitude of Macs recruiting. Mullen is running circles around him in just a month on the job

If he lands three of four more big pieces, this will be an incredible class. The best ever transition class.

We really have "IT" right now.
