80th in the SEC and mid 300s in the country. I’d call that mediocre? Running backs were mediocre, linebackers were mediocre when he coached them. Mediocre coach who followed Butters everywhere he went. Every single coach on Butters staff aside from Seider were bad recruiters. We now have 4 top 100 recruiters in the country, 3 top 50 and 1 who is a bonified top 10 recruiter in the country. You try so hard to hate this staff youre trying to polish Macs staff as being better and it’s just gotten sad. You’re smarter than this

IDK why people keep bringing up the 108th ranked passing offense of MSU last year as a negative of Mullen. Mullen used Fitzgerald in a way that plays to his strengths the same way he did with Dak and so on. Fitzgerald ran a triple option in HS and can throw but that's not what he does best, we just dropped a coach that didn't change his scheme to fit his personnel and I thought people would be happy with that. Every QB we get here should be higher rated and considerably better than what he could get at MSU. People say that he needs a Dak or a Tebow but that's exactly the type of players we should be aiming for and actually able to get here. It's very possible that Fields would be our QB had Mullen had the time to recruit him, Fields was all leghumper when Mullen arrived and it doesn't seem that anyone would have changed that. He's higher rated than Tebow was coming out but Tebow picked the school that fit his style best where Fields didn't. Tebow passed for over 3,000 yards one time in his college career (Heisman year, 3,286 passing yards) but I still remember 2008 (2,746 passing yards) and 2009 (2,895 passing yards) being as fun to watch. Well, maybe not 2009 as much because of the freaking dive play over and over.

Plus, how funny would it be if Fields decided to play baseball and left the leg humpers out to dry? Especially if Eason said “screw this, I’m out” before the MLB draft. They’d go from a monster qb room to a scary thin one.

Dude, are you guys friends? no offense but Callahan was at least as terrible as Nord and Nusschump.

As best I can tell Callahan hasn't been employed anywhere as a coach after getting fired. I'm not surprised.

That would be awesome! Let’s hope some MLB team drafts Fields high in Round 1 and makes him a financial offer too sweet to pass up.

He was the best we had, but that means little.

Obviously, there was no interest from any of the top schools despite there being so many openings and so many people moving. That says it all.

well, dude... being the second best on a bad staff isnt saying much lol.

First of all, who cares what UGA thinks about our staff hires? Every single florida fan was rolling in their seats laughing from the day Kirby was hired til the first snap of this season and look where they are now? He’s a good defensive hire, and they are salty about everything that happened under Richt.

The staffs arent even remotely close to being the same. Macs staff had 72 years total of power 5/nfl experience. Mullens staff has 122 years experience in power 5/NFL.

Macs staff had a grand total of 28 years of SEC experience to Mullens staff’s 75 years. Theres a great deal of difference (mushamps staff was 9 years sec experience and 97 total p5/NFL)

Knox, Sunseri, And Seider are top 50 recruiters in the country. This staff is well put together, except maybe TE and ST and I agree with you being worried about both. Hopefully it will be a team effort to improve STs.

I'm already hated here, so I'm just gonna add to the pile of hate at this point. Remember that quote above? It's just as true today.

It's incredibly mindboggling how so many people on this board were against the Mullen hire, but now have completely changed their tune.

Based on what? His coaching hires? His recruiting? His attitude with the fans and the media? His excitement to be here?

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!

Are you all that freaking blind and naive?

I go by the eye test. And we have seen the eye test of what a Dan Mullen coached team does on the field for years.

Dan Mullen= 108 passing offense this season at Mississippi State. I thought the point was to hire a coach who can fix our offense, not more of the same.

NOTHING Dan Mullen does in the off-season is going to make me change my opinion even 1%. It was an absolutely terrible, boring and easy hire then and it still is.

Unless he proves it on the field (and believe me, he won't), Gator Nation is absolutely f--ked.

You people kill me. You really do.

As I have stated before I was on the Frost wagon but let’s not pretend Mullen is some bum off the street. I would rank him as the #5 coach in the SEC. At Florida we want better than that I agree but at the very least it is an improvement over that joke. Remember this is a transition class and it looks better than what Mac after two years on the job. I’m not seeing a bunch of low rent players being offered scholarships like under the previous regime. Give him his due, he has brought some excitement back to the program. We do need to see it on Saturdays though, I agree with you there.

That's freaking crap. Mullen`s " buddies" are way better than the random coaches that mac hiring from the subsunbelt . I like you itraz but you're opinion is no where near unbiased dude. This is one of the dumbest things you've said.

Well, Traz, let me say this, Ugly hired Jim Chaney and everyone laughed. Turns out if you give them enough of a talent advantage then even some mediocre coordinators can be good enough. (Butters fits in that category too, but not Dumpsterfeyer.)

We are doing REALLY well for a transition class with momentum and a hopefully a big day ahead in Feb. We have no choice but to watch and be hopeful.

#5 in sec is close to what.....#15 in the nation? Were there a lot of top 15 coaches just walking around looking for jobs that I didn't know about?
